The presentation at the Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre is brilliant. Fitted out in historical costumes, the staff take you back in time to a different era and engage you in aspects of their presentation of life in late medieval Dalkey. It is entertaining, informative, and excellently presented. Suitable for all the family, it is definitely worth a visit.

I have passed through Dalkey many times and just thought this place was a small visitors centre, for the 'tourists'. Boy was I wrong. It is much bigger inside that it looks from the outside and it is an absolutely wonderful tour. You step back in time and are guided by people dressed up and 'living the era' - Great... More

Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre is an experience not to be missed. The staff do a wonderful job of bringing you back to earlier times with accents, costumes and stories. The tour is fun, charming and a real history lesson. This was the best value in a five week tour of Ireland. Phil Gorman San Diego, CA

This is a must. A visit to Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre. We were greeted on arrival by Deirdre who brought us in to see a video first to hear the history of the castle. Then we started the tour. We were surprised by Stephen, aka Rupert ( the archer) in full medieval dress who really brought the history alive... More

Dalkey castle is a great place where history is vividly brought to life by period actors. Children especially love this place, which is very interactive compared to normal museum exhibits. It was great to see the history of Dalkey, get a great feel for life in medieval times and take in the fantastic views of Dublin Bay and mountains from... More

We stepped off the DART train in Dalkey and found ourselves in a picturesque village that would be a charming destination on its own. But Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre made our visit really unforgettable. Historical "re-enactors" dressed in period costume give tours and explained about the area's history (even the five year old in our group was fascinated by... More

This is a fun little tour. It's a very small castle, in fact what it really is is a "fortified townhouse." They use a sequential series of live actors in period clothes to give you the history and a tour of the building. It is a little corny at times, but it's interesting. You can climb up to the ramparts,... More

It was a different experience from my previous visits to the castles. The tour of the castle is presented by "some peoples that live there", they are costumed actors that makes you feel like you are a guest of that castle. After I was invited to dinner and I was cured by a barber, I really felt like I was... More
