I live quite locally but I have never visited Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre. This weekend a friend came to visit from Sweden and I thought we could pop in. It is very reasonably priced. There is a short video of the history of Dalkey and how it came to prominence as a depot for goods from large ships that... More

This place is just plain fun! In the past, I balked at going here, but this time, we went for it....WHAT A WONDERFUL SURPRISE! The folks in the lobby were quite entertaining while we waited for the next tour time. The Heritage Centre covers Irish history very well and is very interactive. The castle has such a great program and... More

Trip to Dalkey on the coast by train - 20 minutes. Lovely old castle town by the sea with nice shops and restaurants.

We arrive there just to visit the castle but we had a really funny surprise whe we realised that our "guides" were actors and also we could play with them in some moments.

I was originally staying in Dublin and had been told that there was only one castle which was close enough to travel to (Malahide castle and gardens) however I didn't want to go to a newly renovated castle so after asking far to many tourist help centers I finally found that this castle was only about 20- 30 minutes away... I was a little apprehensive with this on our tour group's itinerary, but I was pleasantly surprised by how informative and entertaining this visit to Dalkey Castle was. The actors were wonderful, and I kept saying how I wish my history class back in high school would have been this enjoyable to learn about the past. I would definitely recommend... More

Take time to tour the Dalkey Castle. The actors gave a great presentation of medieval life. A good time and great town.

Rode the DART out of Dublin heading south following the shoreline. Off at historic right sized Dalkey. Most homes and buildings one story, sometimes two. The road snakes gracefully through the very green village...lotsa lawns, hedges, trees, little gardens, lots of potted flowers, hanging bouquets scattered among Cafes, a bakery, several inns, many shops. Around a bend we're surprised by... More

We did not expect this tiny little gem to be so entertaining and I haven't laughed so much in a while. Kudos to the actors who played their parts so well and would certainly recommend this to anyone visiting Dalkey.
