Not far off the N18 in Quin, this abbey is striking. For me, the abbey's appeal is in the contrast the large ruins make against the bright green but empty countyside. Set in the quintessential pretty Irish village of Quin is the terrific Quin abbey (in reality the is a friary) - which incorporates a De Clare castle which was built in 1280.
