This is our 1st camping at a State Park. We camped in the West Campground after reading reviews. We arrived on a Thursday and it was pretty empty, just a few Rvs. Drove around the camp to find a spot to pitch a tent. They are not real flat but we found one that was close to flat. Electricity at... More

As my wife and I settle into our Home Sweet Home and become East Tennesseans, we are daily thrilled with the beauty of the landscape that everywhere meets the eyes and engages the senses. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Tennessee State Parks System. Currently, fifty-three parks are accessible to the general public and ALL ARE FREE. What... More

You can enjoy an hour or a weekend at this park. There are several short trails, some along the river. There are nice campsites available for individuals, families or groups. The dam is interesting to see and learn how it changed the history and culture of the entire region. I visit this park several times a year. More

The area there is beautiful, and there are some educational places within. They used to have occasional tours of the dam, not sure if they still do that though. It was the first dam built in the TVA system. There are labeled trees along paths, lots of deer (especially at sunset), a grist mill and barn with a basic gift... More

It was the middle of July, heat waves caused temperatures to spike above the nineties, and sweat dripped from the heads of those around me, there was, of course, only one solution to the scorching weather. I am referring to Norris Lake, Tennessee. My family owns a floating house on this Tennessee Lake that has provided, and still provides the... More
