Things which may be helpful: 1) Several public parking choices close by; 2) Near the Visitor's Center; 3) One block from a pedestrian mall with several restaurant and shopping choices. I'm never sure how to rate stores or understand what they are doing in TripAdvisor. We had some friends tell us this was a great place with lots of interest... More

While in Knoxville for the Global Finals of Destination Imagination, a few of us took the free trolley to the Mast General Store. Our boys LOVED the candy section and our parents loved the walk down memory lane. It was fun to tell our children about the candies we enjoyed as children. There was a wide variety of items for... In a central location downtown, I very much enjoyed perusing this large store with a great variety of merchandise. Anything from rural town nostalgia (glass Coke bottles), to reasonably priced modern clothing, to the unique and curious things, chances are you will leave with a purchase.

They carry lots of unique but expensive gifts. We saw all the candy that you could buy as a kid but haven't seen in years but it was $6.99 a pound. Downstairs is all outdoor items for hiking & camping. It was just nice to look around to get out of the heat.

Somewhere between outdoors shop, and (tasteful) gift shop, this place is really worth a visit if you're in the area. Staff are super-friendly (we got free popcorn!), and willing to advise you on places to see in Knoxville...

First visit to this General Store in Knoxville. What a wonderful collection of clothing, shoes, hiking gear, souvenirs and so forth. The quality all seemed very good and the prices were certainly fair.

When you visit downtown Knoxville, be sure to plan on stopping in Mast General Store on north Gay Street. Something for everyone. Local UT fanfare and clothing. Clothing accessories as well as quality basics. Warning: be careful of taking small children because the candy selection is awesome. Enjoy. And don't forget to wander on the lower level as well.

This store just looked like another one of those tourist trap stores, but I went in to see what it looked like. Big surprise. Yes, there are tourist things available, but also some very well-stocked supplies of clothing and outdoor gear. I found a buckle for my backpack that I have not been able to find anywhere else, including online... More

The other day a friend and I went to Market Square for the Farmers Market and we always stop at Mast General. This store has a little bit of everything. Scored myself a pair of new shoes on sale like 70% off. Due to the change of season they were having a wonderful sale with 40% off the last marked... More

I was visiting a Knoxville friend and she took me to Market Square and what a nice surprise to find this store. I've been to the original Mast store in Val Cruces, NC and the one in Boone - but years ago. I live in a more rural community in VA with limited shopping so going to place like this... More
