Find a parking spot and start walking! This is a great place to bar hop at night or shop and eat during the day. There are quite a few where the night life is pretty good. A lot of variety in the little shops in Old City. Definitely worth checking out if you are in Knoxville on the weekend!

Some of the best bars in Knoxville are in the Old City including Crown and Goose, Jig & Reel, Armada, Urban, Barley's... There isn't a ton else to do but it's always improving and the city of Knoxville does seem to have invested in development. It's definitely not unsafe as a previous reviewer mentioned.

Love the revitalized area of the old city. We love seeing what has changed and all the quirky little shops that are popping up.

I enjoy the restaurants in this part of town. There is definitely a sense of history here. Free parking under the bridge. Dog park nearby. Barley's, the cereal bar, Old City Java and The Jig and Reel are favorites here.

A very lively atmosphere with a diverse crowd, depending on the venue. We always have a great time here -- several restaurant options, but the "club scene" could be better if that is what you are interested in. Great live music venues include Barley's and Jig and Reel. There is a noticeable transition from family friendly restaurant scene to nightlife... More

K-town has come a long way since it's raggedy Ann days of run down, empty, abandoned buildings. Lots of boutique shops, trendy eateries, etc. with many young people enjoying with young families too. Great place to spend an afternoon or a long evening! Very recommended while in Knoxville.

We visited Old City thinking we'd walk around, admire the old buildings, have a drink and maybe a bite to eat. But almost nothing was open. I expected a few shops or galleries, but there seemed to be only bars/music venues that were shut tight at 4pm during the week.
