Great place to see downtown Knoxville. Summer time the water feature is turned on. War memorial and children's playground close by. Easy access to restaurants and shops. Small walking trail and water feature. Its free to take the elevator or the stairs to the sun sphere, but in order to go inside the sun sphere you need a reservation at... More

The walls have many photos to add to the visitors knowledge of Knoxville and there are information kiosks around the viewing area.

So glad it is still there as the 1982 World's Fair Iconic landmark. Not sure what goes on inside right now as it has gone through several different restaurants, wedding reception venues, offices, etc. The view is breathtaking from the observatory at the top!

We visited for the weekend and hoped to spend some time doing fun things in Knoxville... We found the World's Fair park and the Sun Sphere to be only a brief stop - not really much to see. But we were pleasantly surprised that we could go up in the Sun Sphere for free.

Don't leave Knox without a trip up the city's most novel addition to the skyline. There is no admission and the visitor floor features great views of the area.

This leftover from the 1982 World's Fair is a major part of the city's skyline--and does afford a 360 degree view of the surrounding area. But it's not all that tall, so one cannot see all that far. But it is free--and it never seems to be at all crowded.

Great views of Knoxville, a must do since it's the Icon of Knoxville! The only complaint is the windows were dirty making it a little difficult to see as clearly as I would have hoped. But apparently they get cleaned twice a year, so if you catch it after they've just been cleaned it would be much nicer!
