It's small, intimate and well thought out. I'd rate it higher is the chairs were even close to comfortable and if the heat worked. Being uncomfortable isn't a good way to enjoy a good performance.

If you have never been to the Down Home in JC, I have one suggestion. GO! I have been to concerts throughout the south and If you can catch a good performer on a weekend night at the Down Home, you are seeing live music at its best. Food was nothing but snack stuff, chips and canned cheese goo. Ventilation poor. Cozy and hot! Wait staff overwhelmed but kind. Very good acoustics. Go early-stay late. Venue 3 stars, The Boxcars 5+ stars! Need to improve food if possible.

We got to see a group called "The Boxcars". The place was packed and they were turning away people at the door. We were told to get tickets before the concert and this was a great idea.
