We have toured a substantial number of historic homes and this is one of the most thorough. We learned the guides are paid and not volunteers, so that may be a factor. (?) Definitely worth the time and $$; very informative and interesting. more

We really had a good time visiting the Hermitage. We actually ran out of time because we had to get to the Grand Ole Opry so I would recommend you plan at LEAST half a day to see and do everything. We paid extra for the carriage tour which was ok. It was HOT the day we went and the... more

I love the self-guided tours, you don't have to keep up with the rest of the group and can go at your own pace. It also is great if you are traveling with small children. The inside guided tour of the house only takes about 20 minutes. more

I spent a few hours here and really enjoyed how peaceful the grounds were. I watched the movie (I was not into it at first, but am glad I did). I went towards the end of the day so I was able to get a "private" tour. The guides were great and very interactive. Ispent a short time walking the... more

We spent 2+ hours here exploring the house and grounds. We saw the film, browsed the shop, and went through the house with guides who seemed enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their subject in particular and about U.S. history in general. Tickets were $17.00 per person. AAA members show your card and perhaps get a discounted price. One of the guides... more

A wonderfully educational and fun experience! Beautiful gardens and tree-lined pathways. The historians were extremely knowledgeable and enthusiatic. An area elementary school had their children dressed up in period costumes and they greeted us at the exhibits. They were adorable and full of great information too! We ended up spending more time than we expected there. It was worth the... more

It is well worth the drive out of Nashville to see The Hermitage. Give yourself plenty of time to tour the house and explore the grounds. The museum was filled with interesting items including the ensembles worn by the Jacksons to a ball in New Orleans. The tour guides for the house were great and very informative. It was interesting... more

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful visit to the Heritage. The grounds are beautiful and wide open. There are audio guides which are marvelous and there was no extra charge. There was also a video to watch. The employees were knowledgeable and dressed in period clothing. I would say you don't need to take the horse carriage... more

We had planned on just making a quick visit while traveling through on the interstate, but ended up spending almost three hours here and finding it well worth the time and money. The audio tour was extremely well-done, with a lot of information, well-presented and with options for numerous in-depth commentaries by archaeologists. The orientation film was so-so, emphasizing Jackson's... more

I visited this past weekend the Hermitage. On first arrival, I wasn’t expecting to see very historic grounds. It all seemed more modern with a paved parking lot, as I couldn’t see the home or any other historic interests. I was worried it was just going to be a house and that was it, but I was wrong. There is... more
