The Hermitage is the home of Andrew Jackson, the US’s 7th president. We started off with a tour of his 8,000 square foot mansion that was built between 1819 and 1821. It was such a huge home but didn’t have one bathroom, because that was not standard at the time. The home is restored very well and you get a... more

Absolutely enjoyed our visit to General (President) Jackson's home. The tour guides in the home were very friendly and informative. Very eager to hear and answer questions. The tour begins with a short movie about Andrew Jackson. You are then given a head set and can move through the plantation at your own pace tapping in the numbers of the... more

Went here on our honeymoon in 1999, came back ten years later and it was even better. They have added audio tours and wagon ride. The history and the care in which they have preserved the whole sight is amazing. They also give the real history, the good, his presidental years and fightings years with the bad, slavery and the... more

Made the drive out here to see this. If you want to see what a plantation looked like in the old south, this is a great example. There is a lot to see here. I would recommend 3-4 hours to see the entire thing, and be prepared to do a lot of walking. The visitor's center provides audio devices free... more

Well worth the fee to get in! Headsets were part of the admission and gave insight into many aspects of Andrew Jackson's home. Would highly recommend a visit if you are visiting Nashville or the area. more

I've toured many historic homes through the US and Europe and thought this was a gem. It is in such fantastic condition for it's age. We toured with 2 adults and 4 children ages (3,6,10 & 12). My 6 year old loved it. I think the older boys were a bit bored but some of the history sunk in. Many... more

This place is great. We went in the morning and there was no crowd. It was hot out side and since some things are outside, be prepared. And bring your walking shoes. Was able to get in and out of the house quickly. The free audio tour was very helpful and the staff was very friendly. more

This is the home and plantation of president Andrew Jackson. The tour starts in the visitor centre with a short movie, it for me was just to much information about the man and not his home we were about to see. We walk up to the mansion and it is very beautiful from the front, tour guides dressed in period... more

We have toured a substantial number of historic homes and this is one of the most thorough. We learned the guides are paid and not volunteers, so that may be a factor. (?) Definitely worth the time and $$; very informative and interesting. more

We really had a good time visiting the Hermitage. We actually ran out of time because we had to get to the Grand Ole Opry so I would recommend you plan at LEAST half a day to see and do everything. We paid extra for the carriage tour which was ok. It was HOT the day we went and the... more
