The downtown Franklin landmark closed in 2007 but the Heritage Foundation of Franklin, a nonprofit preservation group, stepped in to buy and rehabilitate the historic landmark. After three years of work, and an investment of more than $8 million, the historic Franklin Theatre reopened better than ever. It features classic movies and concerts from artists such as Little Texas, Jars of Clay, Mac McAnally and more. « less

The renovation of this theater is stunning. I love going to events here. I love downtown Franklin...so dinner at one of the great restaurants with a concert at Franklin Theater is pretty much the perfect date night.

The Franklin Theater is a historic theater in downtown Franklin. It was recently refurbished and plays a variety of movies from independent film-makers, documentaries to old classics as well as recent box office movies. I believe they also have live-performances. You can order a glass of wine with your popcorn, and they have some table seating towards the front of... More

It's great that the Franklin Theatre was resurrected. It also gives folks a chance to see movies and entertainment. We saw ET not long ago. I took my son when it first came out, and then we took his 12 year old granddaughter when she came for a visit. Where else can you go see the classics like ET, Jaws,... More

We in Franklin are blessed to have a venue like this. Now much more than a movie theatre it has become a place where headline performers come to enjoy themselves. This theater had never looked so good in the best of times. It has had more than a restoration or facelift it has been repurposed into a venue that is... More

What's not to love at the Franklin Theater? Take one building - old, ready for demolition, an "eye-sore" on main street. Add in equal parts visionary leadership, community involvement, creative fund-raising and, cleaver marketing - and what do you get? A refurbished, restored gem that becomes the heart and soul of the community. The theater now has the capacity to... More

So thrilled this theater was restored. It has so much character and then add real food to see a cheap flick...it's a great night out!

I'm a big movie buff so I really wanted to see inside this historic theatre. Thankfully "How to Train Your Dragon 2" was showing so I got a chance to see a good movie as well as the building. The restoration done on the Franklin Theatre is fantastic. Everything from the marquee, ticket booth, lobby, and washrooms is finished in... More

My Wife and I attended a concert at the historic Franklin Theatre in Downtown Franklin, Tennessee. We say Lee Roy Parnell with special guest Etta Britt. This review is for the theatre. I could talk about the concert all night. The theatre was like stepping back in time. having been completely renovated a few years ago, I must assume it... More

Thanks for the kind words and we loved Lee Roy Parnell's show, too! We're also happy to say that everything in the theater is new....including seats, décor, from roof to concrete. And especially the sound and light package that make seeing a live concert so special. Hope to see you again soon! More
