Only got a short visit

This looked to be a very nice area to spend a day. We only got to visit for a short while, ran out of daylight. We will be sure to go back next time we are in the area.

The top of the Mountain is closed until November 21,2015 for routine inspection of the dam according to TVA.com. However, you can still ascend the mountain on Elder Mountain Road and then descend on Racoon Mountain Rd to the Tennessee River and the powerhouse area(The powerhouse is not open to the public) .There is public parking and public restrooms where... Great drive to take! As soon as we turned onto the road several deer ran across the road in front of us. While getting over that pleasant surprise we saw about 6 or 7 turkeys on the side of the road. The ride to the Dam was beautiful. We saw an eagle flying over the dam, too! Beautiful!

My teenagers, mother, and I loved it!!!! was a great tour. My 14 year old totally enjoyed himself. He was able to capture an awesome picture of a salamander. He is by far the most difficult to please, and was the one was the one that was the most thrilled. want to bring him back to spend more time.

Out of the way and very quiet. There is nothing to do though other than enjoy the water and take pictures.

We love driving, we love hills and mountaintops, and we love water!  With this, we got all three!  We had no idea what this place was, only that we were exploring.  It was a lovely drive up one of the many hills/mountains in the Chattanooga area.  Curving around the mountain, following the road, it was very unassuming.  However, once at... A work of engineers. Very interesting to think that they pump the water up out of the Tn river into a reservoir only to let it flow back down through turbines to create energy when it is needed.

A group of us went for a run around the top of the reservoir. The hills were tough! But it was a great view!! Some friends went later int he week and hiked and rode the trails there. It's great because it is not overcrowded....yet.

Glad we didn't miss this non-touristy beautiful place. a few miles from the caverns but well worth it for the beautiful top of the mountain views. No traffic, just gorgeous scenery and peaceful settings.

We rode the go-karts, played mini golf, and mined for gems. We did not partake in the caves due to allergies. Nice little place, good customer service, but go-kart ride should last longer than five minutes, especially when there were only two young boys (mine) out there and there were not any other customers around.
