I've been to Point Park several times. Unless it is bad weather, the view will never disappoint. Don't think you have to be a Civil War buff to enjoy. For one dollar you can see some of the most beautiful views in Chattanooga. There are cannon replicas and large monuments, too. If you want to get in for free, hike up to the park from Craven's House (a historic house on government property that's deep in Civil War history). nice short hikes to be had and nice views. the only drawback is the park needs some tlc in the walkways and museum on the trail . if they did that i would rate it to the top. more
