Did you know The designation of DUKW is not a military pun - the name comes from the terminology used for military vehicles in World War II; the D indicates a vehicle designed in 1942, the U meant "utility (amphibious)", the K indicated all-wheel drive and the W indicated two powered rear axles. Although technically a misnomer, DUKWs are often referred to as duck boats. Another popular nickname was old magoo or simply magoo. Though the origin of this term is unknown, it probably refers to the odd shape of the vehicle. DUKWs became known as ''Ducks'' and are still in use, as well as purpose-built amphibious tour buses, primarily as tourist transport in harbor and river cities.

Having done duck tours in other cities, this one did not live up to our expectations. Would have enjoyed seeing more of the city on land before hitting the water.

Absolutely loved this, our teen Grandson loves history, so this was a gem to find! You start out riding through downtown Chattanooga Tennessee then enter the Tennessee River by a boat dock, aka land and boat experience! Our guide was very informative, gave lots of history about Chattanooga Tennessee. We all enjoyed this very much! A definite must if you... More

This was our first Duck experience and our family enjoyed the tour. Captain Dave was our humorous driver and provided interesting facts about Chattanooga and the Tennessee River. He was also patient with all of the kids on board, answered everyone's questions and allowed anyone to drive that was interested. Driving was a big hit with the kids. We wish... More

Our guide was both fun and knowledgeable. He shared general history about Chattanooga and showed points of interest both on land and the river. The history of early Chattanooga was especially interesting.

Nice tour of Chattanooga, hard to hear the driver over the noise of the Duck. Driver was a little monotone. Kids enjoyed driving the duck. Adults bought it was a 4/5. Kids thought 3/5. Older kids were a little bored.

most of this tour is on the water. Interesting tidbits were provided by the tour guide. I have taken duck tours in other cities and more of the tour was on land and provided information about local attractions. I guess Chattanooga doesn't have as many points of interest. The tour was enjoyable and worth it especially for the kids

Captain was fun, packed with history and poured on charm with southern humor. My 16 year old son enjoyed too. Smaller children were invited to "drive" the boat, but I got the feeling anyone who wanted to drive could. Had some great local recommendations, so I would do this at the beginning of a trip to Chattanooga.
