Did you know The designation of DUKW is not a military pun - the name comes from the terminology used for military vehicles in World War II; the D indicates a vehicle designed in 1942, the U meant "utility (amphibious)", the K indicated all-wheel drive and the W indicated two powered rear axles. Although technically a misnomer, DUKWs are often referred to as duck boats. Another popular nickname was old magoo or simply magoo. Though the origin of this term is unknown, it probably refers to the odd shape of the vehicle. DUKWs became known as ''Ducks'' and are still in use, as well as purpose-built amphibious tour buses, primarily as tourist transport in harbor and river cities.

What a wonderful experience!! My boyfriend and I bought groupons for this activity ($13/ticket rather than $22) and we just loved it!! Our captain was funny and knowledgeable about Chattanooga and very knowledgeable about the duck. Once we were on the Tennessee River, he invited any kids that were interested to come up and drive the duck! It was fun... More

The city part of the tour consisted of a short drive down one or two streets then we went into the water. I'm not sure if there isn't much to tour throughout the city or if the bus tour provides more of a land tour but this was more of a water tour. The water portion was okay. Some history... More

We found out about Chattanooga Ducks by searching Groupon for things to do while in Chattanooga. It really didn't seem like something I would be interested in but our guide was knowledgeable and made the trip informative and fun.

This is a great little tour, interesting for young and old alike. The guides are very friendly and knowledgeable of history and information about the local area. I've taken this tour twice with out of town family, and everyone has enjoyed it. The bonus is it's a nice relaxing boatride!

This was a really a nice tour. My family and friends drove up from Atlanta for the day and had wonderful time. The people were so sweet everywhere we went. We are going back for a weekend trip to see the aquarium and ride their new super fast boat!!!

We wanted to take a tour of Chattanooga since it was our first visit, so we decided to take the Duck tour instead of the usual bus tour. The ducks are renovated WWII amphibious craft so they can drive on the roads and then float down the river. Our tour guide, Barry, was very knowledgeable about Chattanooga. His enthusiasm and... It was fun to ride the ducks with the kids. They enjoyed the ride on the water and I enjoyed learning more about the history of Chattanooga from Dave, the driver. Overall a great activity with the kids!

This was a great attraction. We had a great time and the guide was very informative about history of Chattanooga. Kids had an awesome time, nephew got to drive the boat and of course he loved it. This was so much fun for the adults and kids both.
