Although technically a misnomer, DUKWs are often referred to as duck boats. Another popular nickname was old magoo or simply magoo. Though the origin of this term is unknown, it probably refers to the odd shape of the vehicle. DUKWs became known as ''Ducks'' and are still in use, as well as purpose-built amphibious tour buses, primarily as tourist transport in harbor and river cities. « less

WE LOVED our tour! Usually do like the Duck tours in most towns. We do them first, to give us an overview of what there is to do and where it is in relationship to the city. Tour guides usually have great attitudes and information.

My wife was interested in this so we called early in the morning and was able to find some spots for that same day. They make extra trips on the weekends. It was a bit overpriced for my liking but hey, we're on vacation. Steve, our driver/captain was very entertaining, he made this very tolerable for me. He gave us... More

Recently met family for a fun day in beautiful Chattanooga. The groups age range was spread out from 6 - 65 and we wanted to do something everyone would enjoy. The group decided on the "Duck" and none was dissappointed. The tour/ride took roughly 1.5 hr and the tour guide provided history of the city. He made the trip exciting... More

It was so cool to ride in a 1944 military vehicle that was capable of tooling us around town and then seamlessly transitioning to ride us down the Tennessee River. That alone was worth it. As with most tours, the guide is what makes or breaks an attraction like this. We were fortunate to have Captain Barry who was full... More

Fun for adults and children. So many interesting facts, and great photo ops from the river. The guides have fun, which makes the trip more enjoyable. I would recommend this whether you are a first-time visitor, or a long-time resident.

Our DUKW tour guide who was a commercial driver and boat captain really knew his stuff and provided very detailed local information about Chattanooga. He was very enthusiastic and friendly. The water part of the ride on the Tennessee River was better than the land part as there was more to see and learn about. The land part was mostly... More

What great fun! I took my Grandson and his girlfriend to the beautiful city of Chattanooga to do some sightseeing and to ride one of their famous Ducks! The Duck is a vehicle that runs on land and water! It was used by our military during WWII. Our guide, Steve was awesome. He took us on a tour of downtown,... More

Great guide, great tour full of information. :) (they even let the kids drive the boat) I don't think I would personally do it again because once you've been on a duck tour they are pretty much the same in the city but I do recommend if you have kids. :)

The Duck was a neat way to find out some history of Chattanooga. Our tour guide was Steve and he did a really good job of telling some history of Chattanooga and he let young kids drive the duck in the river. I learned several things about Chattanooga that I didn't know before. Not a bad little attraction but I... More

So much fun and learned so much. It did get a tad hot since they are open air but it was expected. Kids would love it and so would the guys. a favorite for sure!
