Lookout Mountain was the scene of the "Battle Above the Clouds" during the Civil War. Driving to the top gives the visitor a wonderful view of the area and a nagging question...how could cannon have been dragged up such a site? Civil War buffs will not be the only ones pleased with the visit.

Incoming thunderstorms limited hiking to about half an hour, but it will try again. Good to see the sweep of terrain to understand sequence of battle plus surprises I will not post here due to spoiler effect. Views from various spots are spectacular.

Come on a clear day and you can see for miles! Several places to go hiking, I love them all! In the morning hike on the east side of the Mtn and in the early afternoon the west side if you want some sunshine and warmth!

This was one of the first attractions I did when I moved to Chattanooga and I was not impressed at all! The hike to the top is fine but once you get there the view is not that impressive Because as you look down you see this large factory which ruined it for me. Also as you walk down they... More

Enjoyed the beautiful views of the seven states and the amazing rock formations. We visited the end of January so not much vegetation was in season.

When traveling through Chatanooga, TN, my husband and I decided to take a drive up Lookout Mountain. The views were spectacular. There are Falls that can be visited, an incline railway, a zip line, and "Rock City." Or, you can just enjoy a beautiful ride up to the top and back down to the foot of Lookout Mountain, taking in... from the top of the mountain near the incline railway and Point Park there are very nice views looking over the city of Chattanooga and the TN river. Best views come on a clear sunny day naturally.

Did the Incline tour with my brother and sister in law during their visit. It was during the winter so it was very cold for us. Better perhaps during warmer season. There is a place to get some snacks like pretzels and pizza. Not a lot of options to eat unless you get back down the mountain where there are... More
