Lookout Mountain is actually a long mountain ridge that runs through three states, from TN, through GA, to AL. It boasts several well-known tourist attractions (Rock City, Ruby Falls, and the Incline Railway), a Civil War battlefield (Point Park), miles of hiking trails, a hang-gliding center, and some beautiful homes. Great views of the surrounding area can be had from... More

There are great views at Rock City of 7 states from the trail high on the mountain top.The trail wanders through gardens and plants, and into sections of caves, there is very impressive waterfall.Tons of photo ops here.Once in a lifetime experience.Worth the time and fees. There is something for everyone, nature for the adults and a fairytale land for the kids. They have a... Point Park offers a glimpse of history for Civil War buffs, and perhaps some of the best views of the river, Moccasin Bend, and the downtown area. Go on a clear day and you can easily see all the way to Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant, a good 20 miles north of the city, and beyond. Easy, paved trails, and more... More

This was a very unique place. Definitely a must see! The views are awesome. There is a lot walking through different rock formations. Some are very, very narrow so if you are claustrophobic that might be an issue. The swing bridge although very cool, made me freeze halfway through and have second thoughts about crossing, but I made it to... More

Hiking trails are aplenty on the northern end of Look out Mountain. The Bluff Trail provides awesome views...take the side trail to Point Park and another to Sunset Rock. Below Point Park you must visit Ochs Museum with Civil War memorabilia. I suggest parking at Craven's House, or for something more strenuous park at just before Reflection Riding in Tiftonia... More

One can see the river and surrounding area and states. We came when the trees were without leaves, and everything seemed to be a bit brown and wintery. I would have rather seen it in the summer, but would not make a trip back solely for that reason.

Lookout Mountain is an awesome place with beautiful views of the Chattanooga. I'll speak of the individual attractions on their pages, although we didn't go to Ruby Falls this time around. Been there and it's very touristy. Went to Raccoon Mountain instead (worth it). I just wonder what those houses cost loverlooking the city up there. Must be a fortune,... More

Give yourself time to look around. Wear walking shoes. You don't have to pay for anything to look at the view and just be there. And enjoy this very large mountain. There is a town, with bussiness, homes, and churches to look at and walk around.
