Contoy island is a nature reserve 35km from Cancun it is less then an hour by boat.We went on a trip organised by Thomsons from our hotel near Playa del Carmen. We stopped to go snorkelling and see the "sleeping sharks" on the reef. You have to be able to swim well as you must wear flippers and you swim out 250... Isla Contoy is about a 40minute boat trip from Cancún. Unless you get sick on the boat, like I did, then it seems much longer ;-) We arrived at Isla Contoy and first things you see are green nature and blue water. Love love love! As it is a protected area, including protection of the fauna & flora, we weren't... More

I have just returned from 14 days in Tulum, Mexico with my two children aged 12 and 15. My daughter actually chose this excursion the day before our departure. What can I say? First of all we left the hotel at 6.30am for what turned out to be a long but thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile day. The trip was organised... More

Excellent trip,a real Robinson Crusoe moment when we arrived,to have sting-rays swimming round your ankles was a moment to treasure, also special mention to the tour guide LARISSA who gave us an in depth guide and tour of the island, also the boat crew who provided an excellent barbecue for everyone........... a must see island if your going to Mexico.

This island is gorgeous, and with the limited allowance of visitors per day, isnt too crowded either. perfect to relax :)

Absolutely beautiful spot. I like that they limit how many people can be there per day, but it still got pretty busy and I wish they issued even less day permits. Went up the look-out tower, over to the rougher part of the island, and the birding lagoon. Saw some babies in the nest. Went for a swim in the... More

This tour starts at the port where you are served a breakfast consisting of orange squash and a slice of Madeira cake. You then take the boat journey to the island. Cans of Pepsi etc are served on the boat. After about 20 minutes we arrived at the first snorkel location and took a guided tour of the reef. I... More

If there is any snorkeling trip to do in Mexico it is THIS ONE. I promise you will find all types of reefs, fish and we got lucky to see a nurse shark in feeding!!! The crew caught a huge fish for us and prepared it. I am not kidding you when I say this but that was the most... More

What should i describe for for this place? Can actually someone describe the word PARADISE?? So, this is it!! Turquoise water, white sand, coral reef..The best of all, it is a natural park, so there is a max number of 200 guests per day, it means, you pay, you can go only by organized tour and you just have the...
