Don't miss the chance to take this scenic drive. It is a beautiful canyon with waterfalls and great views. Bridal Veil falls is an easy stop along the side of the road and quite lovely. We also took a short walk to view Roughlock Falls which was beautiful. We drove it during mid-October and especially enjoyed the changing colors of... More

Fall is probably the most popular time to drive the canyon, with the yellow leaves of the aspen contrasting against the dark pine trees but this is a lovely drive no matter what time of year you do it.

Take your time and cruise through the canyon and stop to take in the beautiful, quiet, and peaceful nature. The changing sunlight presents and different view all day.

Driving in from the flat prairie, you can't help but be amazed at the narrowness and hlght of the canyon walls. Indeed a land of the Gods.

The drive through Spearfish Canyon is especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves are yellow. Roughlock Falls is a nice one-mile hike or park in the handicapped accessible parking lot for a shorter walk. The winter scene from "Dances with Wolves" was filmed nearby and is accessible via gravel road. Pullouts and picnic areas make this an enjoyable place... More

We were told the fall colors would be spectacular. We didn't find them so. Maybe it's because our benchmark is the north shore of Lake Superior. I would not come just to see fall colors.

We were there during peak Fall color and found it to be a beautiful drive. The highlight was the trail at Roughlock Falls where you park in the lot and take the easy 1 mile trail to the falls. It's possible to drive up there, but you'll miss some truly incredible scenery. We took the Spearfish Falls trail partway down... More

The scenery is beautiful, especially in the fall. One thing new this year was so many aspen trees bent or broken due to heavy snow last October. The only downside (which wasn't a problem for us) is that people tend to go slow on the highway so they can see the amazing surroundings. There aren't many passing lanes so if... More

We were told that it was a beautiful drive but compared to the Needles highway or Iron Mt. road, it was average and not all that pretty. We saw more fall foliage on the other two drives
