Spearfish Canyon is a beautiful drive and has some beautiful hikes. Our son tried for a day and a half to catch a fish, but with no luck. Wish we had known the secrets to fishing the area.

Great picture opportunities, nice drive, not crowded! Took me about 1.5 - 2 hours to drive it incl. stops for pictures.

Nice windy drive. Beautiful to see everywhere you look. Some nice waterfalls along the way. We went during Sturgis bike week so there was quite a bit of traffic but it really didn't take away from anything.

We loved this drive from Hill City to Spearfish. Stopped at Roughlock Falls for a detour on the way. Worth every minute. Romantic spot on the way. The drive was peaceful and relaxing although a little windy.

We drove the canyon from south to north, stopping to hike to Spearfish Falls (part of the trail was closed, but we could still get to the beautiful falls), and then Roughlock Falls. We parked in the lower lot and walked up. It was one easy mile, lush and green. We carried a picnic lunch up and we were pleased... More

We drove this on our way to Devil's Tower, from Custer SD. It was actually an accidental discovery for us. The day we visited Deadwood, they were having a parade and the roads were closed. The person at the detour told us the route, and we were very very pleased? Who would have thunk it? A very scenic and pleasurable... More

I always enjoy cruising up this canyon. The roads are windy and scenic and there are a couple of nice stops along the way. Don't miss the falls.
