A nice museum with a lot packed in it. Lots of Cowboy or Ranching things. Has nice displays and brands of the area. The kids liked it (ages 1, 3, 11, 13, 16, 18). Had enough to keep us busy. If you take a day trip to devils tower be sure to stop here and take a break if coming... More

The High Plains Heritage Center is small in size, but I was quite impressed with the amount of artifacts on exhibit there. I personally am not a wild west fan, but went there because a family member wanted to visit. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it and highly recommend it to anyone.

While not the most expansive museum out there, it's pretty good for South Dakota standards. Worth checking out if you are interested in the history of the area.

So much to see - from saddles and spurs and Tom Selleck to displays of sheep herding, cowboys and rodeos, transportation such as buggies, a stagecoach, etc, and more. Outside are buffalo and longhorn steers and a schoolhouse and a cabin and farm equipment. And so much more. This museum deserves much more attention.

The staff were very knowledgeable offering insights to the attractions. The attractions were well maintained. Wide variety of items that appealed to both my husband and me. The small gift shop had items of interest. In fact, we bought a Dutch Oven cookbook to use during the upcoming camping season. I especially liked that we could touch the buffalo. I... More

We stopped in at this museum on a rainy weekday afternoon. We really like rural and western life and history, so we really enjoyed all the exhibits. There were exhibits on just about everything you would find in the area - farming and ranching, wildlife, native people, mining, barbed wire, life on the prairie, etc. The museum is quite large,...
