Was in Rapid City and my tour guide suggested Spearfish Canyon when she heard we were going to stop in Deadwood and am I glad she did. It's a short stunning drive with several views of waterfalls. Highly recommend. Stopped in Cheyenne Crossing for breakfast before hitting Deadwood. Enjoyed the day much more since we started with this scenic drive... More

We have been on so many beautiful drives in this country and this one ranks very high on that list. We loved it, waterfalls, mountains streams, scenery: wonderful.

Beautiful drive through a canyon. After driving through the hills/mountains, this is a nice drive down below. There are several very nice trails of variable difficulty for hiking, as well as plenty of areas to stop and hike or picnic by the stream. The waterfalls are also very beautiful and worth a picture and a listen.

Beautiful falls with easy trails, some trails are accessible. Bring a picnic, enjoy the day outside. Lots of park areas nearby for family and dogs.

This canyon is so beautiful it's hard to describe. The gorgeous waterfalls and hiking trails are stunning. The end scene from Dances With Wolves was filmed here and there used to be a plaque marking the spot but I believe the plaque has disappeared.

This is a place that I try to get to every time I come to South Dakota. The canyon walls are beautiful stone and evergreen trees - very picturesque. I like to pull over and listen to the sound of the water in the creek that runs along the drive. Make sure you stop at Bridal Veil Falls. Nice waterfall... More

Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway is one beautiful ride on a bike or drive in a car. The cliff walls are breath taking, the stream ice cold. You really should make this drive/ride both ways, the view is different coming and going. Don't forget to stop and check out the "falls", and any number of the pull outs is worth the... More

I still dream of this canon drive...the scenery is lush and lovely. Imagine living at the base of a canyon with a waterfall in your back yard and a waterway in the front yard.....Drive it one way then turn around and drive it the other.....so you don't miss a thing.

We were here in the summer a year and a half ago. Wanted to see the waterfalls and the streams with the ice formed around them. It was a 50 degree day with bright sunshine. You couldn't beat the scenery or the day. One of my favorite spots in the country.

What a beautiful drive through the canyon and stop for pie and coffee at the end of the canyon. Well worth the visit.
