Granted Sioux Falls has no access to the ocean so it would have been next to impossible to get a ship the size of a battle ship to Sioux Falls. The outline of the ship is laid out in a grassy park --- kinda neat! The interior space of the building is very small and does not have very many... More

A nice exhibit honoring the USS South Dakota Battleship. This isn't the entire ship but very well displayed and informative. Free admission with optional donation.

For anyone that service or not, this is a stopping place to take a look, free admission and only take donations if you choose. Great history that shaped the WWII. Many great items from the ship herself, and plenty of history inside with displays.

A very nice and free exhibit of the US battleship South Dakota. Though not a complete ship, the display brings it to life. The museum is also a nice display of artifacts from the ship and era.

This place has lots of info and memorabilia and actual artifacts from this WWI battleship. The whole ship is not there, just parts of it. Lots of exhibits and personal accounts of this ship, and pictures, galore. It was very interesting, and we spent over an hour looking and reading the displays.

The USS South Dakota is one of the most decorated battleships of WWII with 13 battle stars. However it is not the "most" decorated battleship of WWII as the description states, that honor resides with the USS North Carolina with 15 battle stars. (By the way you can actually visit the ship in Wilmington, NC) It's great that the state... More

I'm so proud that my father served on the USS South Dakota during World War II, and this museum and memorial are a tribute to him and to all of the other brave men who served aboard her. We had a wonderful tour of the museum by Opal, who was very knowledgeable about the history of this ship. It made... More

Walk the outline of the ship and see the items taken off before it was scrapped after WW II. Watch the 30-min. video inside. Free and interesting.
