I've always ( 20 years ) enjoyed

Great place for research. The exhibits are usually great too, and change often. The small gift shop offers some unique items.The staff is always very friendly and helpful.

Great place for research. The exhibits are usually great too, and change often. The small gift shop offers some unique items.The staff is always very friendly and helpful.

One of the best places to view Art Work. All types, as right now there is a photographic exhibit second to none, of art. A few years ago I viewed a substantial collection of oil paintings, depicting the old west, from the collection of a Montana rancher that I regard as the BEST art work I have ever seen. BTW,... The Center has a cool (though limited) museum. There is also a gallery featuring mostly Native works. While the center does look to capture the history of SD, it encompasses mainly Native history, so if that interests you it is worth stopping. Otherwise, you can pass.
