This tour allowed us to see so many things that we would not have seen on our own. We loved the open-air vehicle and got great photos by standing up. I do wish that our guide , Mark, would have told us more about the areas we visited. That is the only reason I didn't give the tour a top... More

Before my trip to the Black Hills, I read the book, "Bury Your Heart at Wounded Knee". The Wounded Knee site and Pine Ridge were something I wanted to see and figured a guided tour would be of more value, I found Open Top Tours offered a tour of these areas. The tour is based on two travelers, Open Top... More

At our Rapid City hotel, our Black Hills Tour guide jumped out of his Jeep, and I thought I was seeing Wild Bill Hickok’s doppelganger, Raphael sporting long hair, mustache, and goatee. Once on the way, raised in France, Raphael spoke French with my wife, Tia, a French teacher turned Art teacher. Hearing this, on the way home, Raphael took... More

We took 2 tours with these folks - Mount Rushmore/Crazy Horse/Custer State Park on 5/30/15 and Devil's Tower on 5/31/15. Everyone from Rich (the owner) to Cindy (5/30) to Raphael (5/31) was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The way the bookings broke out, we had a private tour each day in a PT Cruiser convertible. With beautiful weather both days, it... More

We took the $99.00 tour of Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse tour and all they did was take us there and drop us off. We could have drove there for a lot less money. They had an old Dodge van to take us and it smelled and had a lot of rattles. It was not good. The $99.00 was per... More

Hi James - I'm very sorry you were dissatisfied with your tour. I spoke with your guide and he is surprised by your review, he was not aware of your unhappiness. He explained that he provided you with a map and discussed where to find the buffalo, so you could tour on your own the next day and thought you... More

We went as a family with school aged children in May. I wanted to give my husband one stress free day, since so much of touring SD is driving. The Mt. Rushmore tour that takes you through Needles Highway and Iron Mt. road is the only way to see those beautiful highways. You can stand up and take pictures and... More

After driving out from Chicago I wanted to be able to relax and see the sights. This tour was perfect for that - Mount Rushmore, Needles Highway, Custer State Park, Lake Sylvan, Crazy Horse. Plus the open top van really adds to the experience and allows for great views of Rushmore and more on the winding narrow roads in the... More

Howdy Sunshine - Thanks for taking time for a review. I'm glad that you enjoyed your open-top-tour in between the rain showers. I hope you can make it back some day to explore the rest of the Hills. Touring the Needles and Iron Mtn Road can be a bit stressful, the road is safe as long as you concentrate and... More

From the initial booking call to the moment we stepped out of the van at the end of the day, our tour was comfortable, instructional, and absolutely breath-taking. Tour guide Rich was accommodating to a fault. We could not have asked for a better guide or a better experience.

Rich was an awesome tour guide! We were out with him all day, and he took our small group of friends on the most amazing tour! He pointed out all of the wild animals up in the Black Hills and took us to see so many interesting sights! We would have never been able to do it all in our... More

Hi Amy - What a great bunch to tour with . . . you guys were a hoot! I could tell you all have been friends for some time by your mutual sense of humor.
