Otto drove us out to see Mt Rushmore lit at night. He was not only very friendly and pleasant but he was extremely knowledgable about the area and went out of his way to show us some extra things we did not plan on.

Howdy Mitch - Thanks for providing your tour review. Otto is one of our newer guides and has worked very hard to develop his skills and knowledge of the Hills region. I will pass along your kind comments. Be Well - Rich More

We had the pleasure of taking two of Black Hills Open-Top-Tours this past weekend. We first took the Mount Rushmore Safari #1 tour and it was everything as advertised. It was a great tour including Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Needles and other sights in the area. We were able to get some great pictures out of the open top... More

Hi Stoney - I'm pleased you enjoyed your two tours with us. The Safari#1 tour is our most popular and provides great views and photo ops. Because of the ever changing weather in the Hills we are constantly adjusting to our guests comfort levels (AC or heater) throughout the day. Devils Tower is a longer drive, but some of the... More

Hi Peter - Thank you for taking time for a review. We are extremely happy to have Carl as one of our guides. He has a great personality and as a former educator and mechanical engineer, he studies the history of all the Black Hills region and loves to share it. I will pass along your kind comments. Thanks again!... More

We were on this tour on recommendations of friends that had taken it last year. It was not enjoyable. Otto was the tour guide. He was a nice enough fellow but had no knowledge of the area. Much more training was needed to be leading a tour. We did not feel safe in the rickety van and he drove much... More

Hi Melody - I apologize if you feel our guide was not knowledgeable. That was his first tour on his own after finishing training. As both you and Tony stated "he is a nice enough fellow" and he has the personality to be successful, I will review the information with him to be certain he's ready for the next tour.... More

"Unsafe at any speed." It all started with a poorly refurbished and shabby converted van/school bus, you know, the small school bus type used by assisted living homes and such. It was repainted, probably with a brush because you could still see the markings of the previous owner/operator. The inside has a linoleum floor and only seat belts for some... More

Hi Tony - I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your Badlands tour. I apologize that you felt your guide was not knowledgeable. This was his first solo tour and we thought he was prepared. I will followup. I appreciate your taking time for the review about our guide, we need this feedback in order to improve our services. However, I take... More

In June we took two tours with Black Hills Open Top Tours. We had the pleasure of having Rich, Raphael and Cindy show us the sites. Since they all were extremely knowledgeable about the area and sites we got to see not only the known tourist attractions, but other sites and a history lesson that would have been missed by... We took the Rapid City tour with Rich and had a great time. We got to see things we wouldn't have known about on our own. Rich was great. He is extremely knowledgeable of all things related to the region. A warehouse of information. Such a great guide that he had us directly in front of a "General Store" just... More

On July 2nd, we had arranged to be picked up at the Best Western Golden Spike in Hill City for transportation to (and from) the night performance at Mount Rushmore for four people. Howdy Carl - Thanks for taking time for your review. It's great that you had a good time on the tour. Kelly is new with us this year but is developing into a complete guide. The lake picnic lunch has been a big hit this summer and provides a very tranquil setting. Thanks again for the review! Rich More

Thanks Todd for your kind review. You got two of our best guides for your tours.
