Live bands, festival atmosphere and friendly folks everywhere. Rapid City has "Summer Nights" every Thursday during the summer months and it is a great way for tourists to visit their downtown shops and restaurants.

The ice cream was excellent, the water garden for the kids was a blast. We checked out lots of shops. They did not have a lot of the tawdry souvenirs that most places have - they had stuff you could really use and wear.

loved the downtown area. While not large- four blocks square, it was lovely. on each corner is a three quarter life sized bronze statue of an American president. I also must comment on how gracious and welcoming the locals ca be. while walking alone touring these fine statues, three times locals asked me ,after seeing my camera, if I would... More

We spent an entire day downtown going in and out of shops. Lots to see and experience downtown rapid city. I enjoyed the art alley and Tally's for lunch.

Downtown Rapid City is surprising a very manageable and interesting place to deplore for a small community. Th atmosphere is friendly, restaurants in abundance and so are art galleries. The people strolling seemed to be friendly and helpful in finding places to eat. Two large hotels in downtown including Adobe Eco Hotel and an older one, Hotel Alex Johnson both... More

After reading a couple of brochures on downtown Rapid City, my wife and I ventured out to look around. There's nothing wrong with the area, but it's not really that different from the downtowns of every other midwestern town/city. Yes, there are statues of presidents, but they're not really done up, and they're not big. Maybe I expected too much?... More

We enjoyed the old buildings in the downtown area and loved the Presidential statues. There are some interesting antique stores as well. I wish they'd do some more improving of all of Rapid City, some appears old and not as nice.

This was a unusual place. Small inside but large covered and uncovered area outside. Their beer was very reasonably priced. The food was slightly above average. This restaurant is in the middle of revitalized downtown. Downtown is worth the trip with live entertainment, wadding pool, etc.

On every corner are bronze statues of the presidents. Great Photo opp. There is also a fountain in the town center that encourages getting wet.
