I loved the downtown area. I have mainly been to larger cities where such pleasure spots are congested with expensive parking if you can even find any. We went to Delmonico's and Murphy's for two separate restaurant trips. Both places were excellent. We also did quite a bit of shopping also. The statues were a nice touch.

The city leaders have done a good job of making free parking available to support the numerous shops, galleries, bars and restaurants on the main drag. Worth the stop to park and visit.

Each corner has a past US president. That's fun to see and find them all. This time if year it's very festive all over. At the main street square there is an ice skating rink. It's very cute and alot of fun for all ages. Alex Johnson hotel is a MUST to visit our even stay at. Full of history.... More

I love how they do events in downtown Rapid City. The last event we went to was their Halloween festival. There were pictures with Jack Skellington, trick or treating at local businesses, music, dancing, and so much fun. Any time you visit Rapid City, you have to see what's going on downtown. They do so much throughout the year and... More

Whoever thought of this was a genius. The cement statues on every corner of the 2 main streets is terrific. They have every president depicted in a variety of poses. One has a baseball behind his back as if he is ready to throw it. Many have children also in the sculpture. The downtown area has a very safe "feel"... More

Rapid City downtown is quite pleasant place. There is a park nearby which contain long and interesting run trail. There are a lot of presidential statues around, some of them look really bad and some of them are real masterpieces. In overall it is a good place to visit on your way back from Mt Rushmore. I wouldn't bother visiting... More

Most of the street corners in the main downtown area have a statue of a president of the US on each corner, in a variety of styles. It makes a pleasant break to just park and wander past a few, trying to guess or recognise which they are without looking at the explanatory plaques first.
