Downtown is filled with interesting sites and places to eat and snack. The statues on every corner give you a sense of wanting to find them all and the park is just a great place to cool off in the sprinkler, look at the sculpture in progress of the black hills or grab a snack or a meal for that... The downtown area was in walking distance from our small old hotel the Townhouse( great buy). Rapid City's down town is like I remember as a child, field with stores and restaurants and weekly entertainment. We ate at several of the restaurants they were all good a little above average. We walked the president's walk, getting pictures by our favorites.... More

I enjoyed walking around the downtown area while I was staying at the Holiday Inn. The presidential walk was awesome. Be sure to check it out if you are in town. I wish I would have had more time on my trip to check out more of the downtown area.

We arrived in Rapid City on a Saturday evening, and after dinner were looking for a little walk instead of sitting in a hotel. Driving around, we happened upon the downtown area. What a delight! After parking, we spent several hours walking around window shopping, enjoying the outdoor concert, and stopping to view the Presidential statues on each corner. A... More

I am an old guy and this is the way I remember cities when I was a kid. Families and people of all ages are out on the street, shopping, eating and enjoying being with other people. There is so much to see in the surrounding area and Rapid City is a great place to sit back and share with... More

We enjoyed walking around downtown Rapid City. The kids liked reading the plaques on the presidential statues, shopping, stopping for ice cream, and seeing what was happening in the main square.

Most visitors to the Black Hills see Mt. Rushmore and, perhaps, Custer State Park. The locals know that downtown Rapid City is one of the best kept secrets around. The presidential statues are worth seeing and are great photo ops. The Main Street square is cheap fun and a great, free way to cool down in the summer. Have the... More
