Our group arrived on Sunday morning and there wasn't very much opened except a few restaurants. We came to see the President's Walk and really enjoyed visiting with each of the different Presidents. It was very neat to see the different poses each had and some, like Thomas Jefferson had their most important papers in their hand. We read many... More

If you get the chance, visit downtown during Summer Nights (Thursdays). What a party. Huge crowds, live entertainment, kids play areas, restaurants, double-decker shuttles to ride around town. Carnival atmosphere with street vendors for food and trinkets.

The downtown was nice and clean. We did the Presidential walk with our children last year and they had so much fun. We enjoyed Mitsy's bookstore and the hobby store (I don't remember it's name). We were pretty disappointed with how early most of the stores closed. They had a center area of downtown where a band was playing and... More

I walked around downtown while friends went to the Civic Center to see Bill O'Reilly. The statues of the presidents, park, and Prairie Edge are nice seeing. Prairie Edge is one of the best Native American stores, not only in the area, but the US. There is a bookstore on the 2nd level. You can visit other attractions in the... More

There are so many better things to do in Rapid City than the downtown area. I'm not sure if we hit it at the wrong time, but we just didn't find a whole lot to do. The president statues were neat to see, but not worth dedicating a lot of time for.

The downtown area is great. Plenty of dining, shopping and a park with water spouts. So clean. Even a grocery store convenience to downtown. One of the most smartest laid out cities I have ever been in.

Brulé is a contemporary Native American New Age/Worldbeat music group based in South Dakota. The performance we saw at a ranch outside Hill City was a fantastic mixture of traditional Lakota music and dance reframed in a modern presentation. Everything was high quality and enjoyable for all ages from our 4 year old grandson to 70+ . Our grandson dance... More

Well I thought that there would be more there since there are tours to downtown Rapid City, but what makes it unique are couple of things like the president statues and a few galeries with some of the native american pieces on display, but overall is just another small city downtown. It is visible that they have been working hard... More

A pleasant, family friendly environment. It was clean and friendly with statues of presidents on every corner. It was fun identifying the ones we had time to see. There was a splash park that many kids were having fun with, shops to browse in, and plenty of choices for dining. They had a movie night event happening in the park/square... More

We drove in from our hotel off the Interstate - we were looking for dinner in some place other than another chain - and we were pleasantly surprised. There's shopping, a brewery, a town "square" (which looks like a recent addition), movie theater, statues of Presidents - all clean and well kept up. Don't think it's necessarily a "destination'," but... More
