My family and I stopped at Storybook Island while visiting Rapid City this weekend. My 4 year old was absolutely in Heaven while she was there. They have done a great job of creating little scenes with storybook characters. They had many playhouses and boats that the kids could wander through and I definitely felt has if we had been... We drove by Storybook Island every day on our vacation and my tween son asked to stop in to see what it was like, much to the dismay of his older brother. Fortunately it is completely free so you can stop in and walk around for as long or as little as you like. The park is filled with play... More

I took my niece to storybook island as it was highly recommended from others in the area and it exceeded my expectations and hers (it was easy to tell by the look on her face). She would be highly entertained by one storybook character until she glanced and noticed what was ahead. A great place to pass the time with... More

I visited this before the flood back in the 70s. Seeing it again after all these years was great. The kids while a little older really had fun seeing everything. We got some awesome pictures. It is a great place to visit..

The kids had fun running and burning off some energy. There is a cute little train that goes around the park it's 2 dollars per person, my kids thought that was fun. It's nice to have something that doesn't cost so much money.

A wonderful little city park with story book themes throughout. There is a little train and a carousel, slides, swings, and old school park toys. Well maintained and clean. Brings memories of simpler times. Great shaded areas for a picnic by the creek. Charming place and it is free.

After cave tours and museums of "just look and don't touch", my 5 & 10 yr olds were ready to run, jump, climb, play and explore on their own terms. Even me and my husband had a great time. It is a free attraction but the train ride and merry-go-round ride are $2 each. The staff was wonderful. Especially Chris... More

Storybook Island and Dinosaur Park are both free. Dinosaur Park is a waste of time and Storybook Island is well worth your time if you have little kids. Plenty of benches and shade trees are great for the parents. Even more slides, jungle gyms, and you name it for the kids. Located next to a great park for a picnic.... More

My wife visited this park when she was very young, so we wanted to visit with our kids during vacation. There were many updated / newer displays / playground areas, but also many of the great old equipment that my wife remembered. The park was VERY clean and organized and the kids had a great time. We picnicked in the... More
