After 30 years Rushmore Waterslide Park is closed

The owners said severe weather and maintenance issues took a toll on the aging attraction. It's sad to see a local attraction close down. Thanks for the memories.

The Waterslide Park was an excellent attraction, but was getting older. The property was sold last summer and they have got it almost torn down. There are several indoor waterparks in Rapid City, one is open now and the other is being built. Both are on the north side of town near Interstate 90.

Waterslides of today have replaced the old 'SlipNSlide' of yesteryear ! And so another newbie will enter the scenery of Rapid City for a "rip roarin' " in good old fashioned fun style time . . . later than sooner. I was informed it was due to open 6 mos. ago but all comes to an end eventually, even slow... More

Thanks for the memories. Used to come here everyday as a kid/teenager. Sorry to see you go. Always had so much fun here. Loved the tube river slide. Could spend hours here.

We came here again July 2014, our last visit was in 2005. We were so surprised to find that Rushmore Waterslide Park is now CLOSED. The gates were shut & locked. We were told the Waterslide Park closed because their expenses exceeded their revenue. Too bad it's closed. Lots of tourists & locals visited this park.

If your child is 10+ years of age... it can get pricy. Don't judge by how it looks on the highway... they have more slides than you think along with a large hot tub. My advice: Bring an umbrella or wear a hat... it is very sunny when just sitting there. Also, always use the mats... the ride goes faster an... More

I visited in July 2013 with two kids under age 10. I wanted to take the kids here since the price was so affordable and it was well worth it. We spent about 5 hours here and had a ton of fun. The park was not overly crowded, lines for the slides weren't long at all. There's not very much... More

Just driving by, you can tell this is no major waterpark with the latest and greatest rides. It is good for an afternoon of sliding, especially if you have kids. The park is dated, but still very functional. $15 for an adult pass is pretty reasonable if you ask me. 3 and under are free, older somewhere in the middle.... More

The park is fun for kids, but there is not much for adults to do. There isn't much shade so even though we put sunscreen on several times everyone still got burned. Some of the slides are a little bumpier then we would have liked, but they were still enjoyable. With only 10 slides this is not something you can... More

We went to the Rushmore Waterslide Park and one of the slides quit working. We had to stop going double on another slide because it was leaking. If you did not use a mat and you could feel every rivet. The boys and my husband have red marks on their backs from the slides. At $14.95 each for the oldest... More
