We brought our six-year-old son and one-year-old daughter to Old MacDonald's Farm in June 2006. Yep, this is a petting zoo but that's exactly how it's advertised. We took our 16 month old daughter here and it was the best part of my trip to the Rapid City area. It was clean (as clean as a petting zoo can be) and very friendly staff. You could enter many of the pens to feed the animals... more

I live in Rapid City, and I just had my daughters birthday party here. Love it. The staff is super nice- their events are right on scheduale and it is a wide open area for kids to play on the playground, hold live baby chicks, feed baby pigs or goats. We stop at Old MacDonalds Farm everytime we are in the Black Hills area. My kids (ages 6 and 9) LOVE it! They get to touch and feed the animals -- and they can run and run all over the place. There are horse rides and "train" rides as well as a playground and concession area. I highly recommend this... more

The other reviewer was wrong! The goats can easily get on and off the bridge, and the animals are well cared for. We live here in Rapid City, and this is our favorite attraction. Yes, its like a huge petting zoo, but that's the attraction! Loads of hands on fun with the animals! more

This place was such a tourist trap! It's like a petting zoo. When you're on the highway in front of it, you can watch the goats cross a high, high bridge to get food. They walk back and forth across the bridge and it doesn't look like they are able to get down whenever they'd want to. They stay up... more
