Owner description: To some, we are a Native American art gallery; to others, we are a trading post reminiscent of days gone by. On the corner of 6th Street and Main in downtown Rapid City, Prairie Edge stands two stories high and stretches out for half a block as a brick, wood, and glass storefront that has been restored to its original 19th century glory. Inside, the hardwood floors and polished cabinetry bring to mind the spirit of the Old West, while the distinct smell of sweetgrass and soft sound of a Lakota flute evoke the mystique of the Plains Indian culture.

I love the unique selections of gifts you have to select from especially around Christmas time:) You always seem to carry a good selection of unique gifts. Especially your gallery. I like the wide arrangement in different style artist you carry. It makes me happy to see you carry such a big collection of "local" Artist. Look forward to stoping... More

Beautiful items of Native American Art - a wide variety of art, jewelry, beading and beads, leather products and leather, books, ceramics, paintings and prints - plus more. Very attractively presented with wide aisles and an elevator. The restroom is accessible also.

I am an avid fan and collector of Native American artworks and this is one of my favorite galleries to visit. There are several floors of beautiful art and supplies to browse through. The staff is always friendly and encourage you to spend as much time as you can in the gallery. There is just so much to see!

This was my 3rd time in Rapid City and 3rd time at Prairie Edge. I always find something new to admire. This time the lady behind the counter in the Sioux arts display area explained a lot of the beadwork to me. I'd had a vague idea that the beadwork on animal hides told stories, but to have her explain... More

As you're walking thru Rapid City this store deserves a visit. We don't usually rate individual stores, but this has to be an exception. It's a store/museum of Indian handcrafts and western art. Done very well. Staff is very informative, very helpful. Surprisingly we did see some things that looked like they were handcrafted by Native Americans but, alas, turned... More

This one of a kind location is a combination of fine art gallery, retail store, and amazing resource for Native American craft work. They have the most amazing collection of raw materials, such as turtle shells, deer sinew, porcupine quills, and an incredible collection of Italian glass beads - hundreds of jars arranged by color, in a "library" of beads. You... More

This was by far the nicest shopping to be found in Rapid City - and in general the prices reflect that. There was a wide variety of merchandise for sale - Pendleton blankets and clothing, animal parts (buffalo teeth, antlers, bones, hides, etc), Native American crafts/clothing/weapons/musical instruments/etc, beautiful artwork and furniture, etc. There is also a pretty good selection of...
