On the corner of 6th Street and Main in downtown Rapid City, Prairie Edge stands two stories high and stretches out for half a block as a brick, wood, and glass storefront that has been restored to its original 19th century glory. Inside, the hardwood floors and polished cabinetry bring to mind the spirit of the Old West, while the distinct smell of sweetgrass and soft sound of a Lakota flute evoke the mystique of the Plains Indian culture. « less

A must stop and see store if you are in the area! Make it a point to stop by this store. This is the store we buy all of our Native American craft supplies from. They also added a herb selection and I am totally hooked on these now! I always have to walk threw the whole store to see... More

This unique store embodies great works of art for the culture of Native Americans. On staff historians it seems like very informational. Beautiful gallery inside and out. Love the history of the building and the beautiful gift selection inside. Beware if you go to have at least an hour to spend, you will not want to leave.

We were going to the Firehouse Brewing Company restaurant when my wife spotted this gallery of Native American objects/artwork/handicrafts/etc. To say this is a spectacular collection is an understatement. There are paintings, decorated animal hides, blankets, headdresses, and much more. I looked at many of the prices, and they didn't seem all that unreasonable to me, not that I was... More

I was in Rapid City right before the big snow storm last week and only had one hour to look through this store. I was greatly impressed by the quality of the workmanship and detail that went into every piece. There is a bead museum upstairs that showcases just about every bead known to man (and woman) that will take... More

I love Prairies Edge. I use to get their catalog for inspiration, but seeing it in person is even more impressive. I spent hours just walking around and looking at the Native American arts and crafts. The staff are wonderfully accommodating and helpful. They well versed on the items and artist and very willing and enthusiastic to share what they... More

Frequently I am Blessed to pick-up Friends, Guests and Visitors at the Rapid City Airport. Most want to go and see Mt Rushmore. We ALWAYS take time to enjoy some of the offerings of Rapid City, on the way. Prairie Edge is an Amazing Place! It is two stories tall and about a quarter of a city block. The Best... More

Not knowing anything about Rapid City, we arrived at Main Street Square where a friendly retailer answered my question, "what is not to be missed?" Prairie Edge has all that you could imagine for local products for home furnishings, clothing, jewelry, books and most important a diverse, unique selection of art. Don't miss this very extraordinary store where products and... More
