We went looking for a more authentic Gold mining experience and we found it at Wades. Its a little troubling at first as when you first pull in it looks like you wandered into a crazy relatives back yard. When we parked our car we went into the house which has a small gift shop and museum, it looked like... More

We enjoyed this "off the beaten path" experience! We elected to just pan for gold and not take the tour (due to time constraints). What a great visit. Mary was very informative, and so kind and patient in helping our kids learn to pan. We all had such a nice time! I definitely recommend this for families looking for a... More

We like going off the beaten path and this is it! Don't let the driveway or buildings fool you, this is a slice of true Americana and local culture. The staff is very friendly and patient with the kids. They taught them exactly what to do and gently corrected them when needed. We loved it. We had a limited time... More

We enjoyed vising Wade's on our vacation recently. I highly recommend this as a stop on your trip to the Black Hills. The excursion is rustic yet authentic and visitors will definitely come away satisfied. Our instructor was extremely patient with our son and we we thrilled to find an activity that wasn't "touristy". It's affordable and fun and definitely... More

We didn't get to do the tour or panning because it was raining, but the gentleman showed us everything he could on the inside of the shop. We plan on going again when it is sunny out!

Thanks for stopping in! We're sorry nature didn't cooperate while you were there. Sometimes, if it's not raining too hard, we can still get in tours and panning, but if it's a downpour, it's just not much fun for our visitors! We do hope you'll stop in again when the weather is better! All our best. More

Thank you for coming to visit us, and for taking the time to leave a review! We're glad that your husband enjoyed panning and that you're excited to try it on your own! We do offer to parents of younger children that they can "share" a panning lesson with parents, as it does require a good amount of patience. Please... More

Really enjoyed seeing the old mining equipment and learning how to pan for gold. Even found a few flakes of fine gold. Worth checking it out.

My daughter and I decided to try our hand at gold mining. I had done this once before in the past, but Wades was way more fun than I had anticipated. It was authentic, and Bill and Wild Bill were great at teaching us how to mine while sitting in the stream sluicing our gold pan!!! We both loved this... More

Stopped in after a recommendation from fellow campers. Small family run mill. Was cool to see although the 6&8 year old got bored on the tour. The whole family enjoyed learning to pan and get a little gold and a lot of garnets.

Thank you for coming to visit us, and for taking the time to write up a review! We're glad everyone loved the panning! On the tour, we try to interact with everyone as much as possible, but understand that sometimes it is hard to keep it interesting for everyone the whole time. Hope you enjoyed your time in the Hills! More

What a way to learn about how to pan for gold. The history of the Wades gold Mill was interesting, and Mr Wade has collected old mining equipment and is preserving the history of how to pan for gold for the future so it is not lost forever. We stayed a couple of hours and was taught how to pan,... More
