Beautiful area....quaint and fun little town. We love to go to Deadwood every year. We like to just relax, gamble a little, eat good food and take in the beauty of the area.

It's a nice walk down one side of main street and back up the other side. Lots of historic buildings and mannequins in some off the second floor windows make it a very interesting walk.

Not many stores open but I am more interested in history than souvenirs so this was not a problem. Architecture is well-preserved and I enjoyed walking into the saloons to see the woodwork on the bars and stair railings. Slow down while walking to take in the dates of construction and craftsmanship.

I was really looking forward to Deadwood, but all we found was a lot of casinos. We had planned to eat there, but there isn't much to choose from. Cool buildings and typical mining town, but only good for about an hour. All parking is by parking meters! BUT don't miss the Mt. Moriah cemetery.

We spent half a day in Deadwood having driven up from Custer State Park (see review). It reminded us of Park City, but more down to earth. The casinos are small, but you’ll get personal attention from the staff. The staff we spoke to throughout our visit were all born and bred and had no intention of leaving. There is... More

We were looking forward to visiting Deadwood because of it's wild west heritage. We got very little sense of the history of the place. The town is overrun with casinos and slot machines. Vegas is not a place we like to visit with family and this is what it felt like in Deadwood. We also came to see the Car... More

It was a perfect day to be outside and walk through a real piece of Wild West history. Old town is fairly condensed and easy to see on foot. In addition to the unique boutiques, there are numerous places to eat as well as saloons and gambling halls. What I found to be of particular interest was the notations of... More

History markers along way tell the story of Deadwood. Fun places to investigate. Bars, restaurants, museums and of course casinos.
