nice for people watching

Lots of tourist trap trinket shops, good people watching. IN the summer months there are folks dressed in period costumes and shoot outs a few times a day.

Before gambling came to Deadwood, the city had a lot of character and felt like the old west. Now, it's razed the old buildings, property owners cashed in and it's not the history we once had. It's sad.

First time we brought our kids. They liked a few shops. The Western look. But its a gambling town! Been there during Halloween, Marti Gras etc, great bands, karaoke, food/ restaurants, and gambling all down one street!

Omg I just love this place we have been here twice now from Australia. You just have to experience this town in Sturgis week people watching is a must you will be entertained for hours highly recommended. The town is so historical it will suck you in and you want to go back again.

Even if there are old west store fronts and kitschy wares for sale, this street gives you the small town main street experience. After walking up and down both sides and having an ice cream cone, we got back in our cars and drove on some of the side streets.

This was my first time in SD. I just love the architecture of this town. It had light snow coming down & the streets were icy, but could not ruin our visit. We drove through the town before using the public parking so we could gamble, look in shop windows. We spent 2 nights. Would like to go back in... More
