Barbara Jean was an excellent guide, and her horses were perfectly matched to our skill - 2 novices, and 1 expert. The trail can be a bit scary for a novice, but Barbara Jean was very attentive and made sure everyone was ok every step of the way. Which wasn't even necessary, her horses were very capable and well behaved.

How lucky were we when I googled trail rides in Lead-Deadwood area and I happened upon Barbara Jean and a canceled 11:00 ride, what luck! In high school, my family went to a dude ranch for a week in Colorado and I wanted my kids to experience how much fun horseback riding is and Barbara Jean did not disappoint. She... More

We took this trail ride as a family outing and had a great time. Barbara Jean takes you through some nice trails and some high view spots for photos and the whole experience was very relaxing. The horses were very well behaved and she taught us a few things about managing our horses on the trail. It seems like all... More

I highly recommend this experience! My son (21) and I loved this experience. My son had never ridden before. I have lots of experience and the ride was great for both of us. Our horses were not the dead broke nose to tail trail horses. They had personality, but were easy to ride (I loved Patriot!). The scenery is fantastic... More

This was one thing i wanted to do when we went to deadwood for my 21st birthday and it was amazing! Barbara did an amazing job with matching everybody up with the right horse for them! Yes it is a narrow path and you go up hill a lot, but there are breathe taking views and her and the younger... More

I am amateur rider and I found this to be extremely fun. I felt nervous at first once I found out that you ride up a hill but I saw two young children who had participated in the trail ride scheduled before mine and they said it was amazing and that we would love it. once you get on the... More

Barbara Jean was friendly, informative and the horses were good as gold. A bit of a steep climb in places up the hill, but the views at the top were lovely and Barbara Jean was well-informed and attentive. We are relatively novice riders (and did have the opportunity to 'push away' from the trees) but none of us succumbed to... More

My sister and I (we are experienced riders) and our inexperienced husbands booked a ride with Barbara. To be honest, according to the pictures posted by other travelers (including the one above next to this post) it showed areas of horseback riding on level ground and along trails that were not so congested with trees. We would not have minded... More
