I had been looking forward to visiting the Roo Ranch after reading about it in several South Dakota tourism packages I'd been reading before we took our trip there this past week. Don't bother...this place is not worth it. Very disappointing. I was expecting a lot more. For $20 for 2 adult admissions, I think we stayed less than half... more

I must have been at a different Roo Ranch than some of you as it was one of the best experiences I have ever had, I have paid $65 to go to Sea World and other major attractions and the $10 it cost to get in was well worth it. The kangaroos seemed very content and looked well taken care... more

Hated the Roo Ranch with every fiber of my being, despite heartily looking forward to it as a stop during our week stay in the Black Hills. Reminiscent of a 1920s "zoo." Animals in small cages, no natural habitat for them, broke my heart into pieces. My eight-year-old son kept asking why the kangaroos were kept in such confined spaces,... more

Every year my boyfriend and I take a trip, this year it was to the black hills. We ended up hitting deadwood around Rally time and didn't realize it. So needless to say everyone was a litle crankier from all the bikers and craziness going on. While I was looking at the brochure stand The Roo Ranch one caught my... more

We were driving by and I noticed The Roo Ranch I had my husband turn around and pull in as I have NEVER seen a Kangaroo in real life. Not only did I get to see a real live kangaroo I GOT TO PET ONE!!! While I was there I actually ran into one of the owners, I learned why... more

Save your money, go to either one of the other two quality animal attractions-Bear Country or Reptile Gardens. Cheesy throughout. This is a family run attraction and you can see your money goes towards their very nice house (behind the chain link pens) and not towards the "so called" attraction. They have exhibits with endangered species that made my heart... more

The RooRanch is a big RIP OFF!!! We spent $48.00 for a family of 5 and it took us less than 10 minutes to look around. The small animal exhibit smell was horrible!! The animals were in tiny cages with no shade. They advertise the "kangaroos" and there is only a few of them. We were not sure if this... more

I would NOT visit this place again! My 1 year old daughter had a 4 year old Kangaroo, named Jasmine, jump up on her and scratch her face and neck deep enough to bleed while we were in the interaction area with the tour guide. They did not offer any medical attention at all. We took her to the bathroom... more

We stopped here on our way to Deadwood. Nocturnal exhibit smelled was enough to make you nauseas. Animals outside were not active at all, most were sleeping (we got there around 1pm) and we only got to see three kangaroos roaming free, two of which were in the "do not bother" area. My daughter did get to pet the other... more

My teen daughter and I decided to check out the Roo Ranch as we traveled back to Minnesota from Montana via the Rapid City area. We were delighted in seeing so many kangaroos and other different animals. There are interns on the grounds for the summer that can answer all our questions and give you information that you might not... more
