This is FREE to everyone BUT there is a donation jar at the entrance so please donate some and buy a plant or two at the end. There's plenty of benches and gazebos that you could take a picnic basket with you and enjoy the quiet and beautiful landscape! Give it a go.

Hatcher Garden, a beautiful, woodland public garden in the heart of the city of Spartanburg. It displays seasonal flowers, foliage and trees along soothing ponds and streams. The Garden is free to public and open every day of the year from dawn to dusk. Its great place for a casual stroll and wonderful spot for picnic.

Very nice place for a free relaxing walk in the midst of an urban area. Well kept trails and informative signs explaining the flora are a great touch. Stop by for a quick stroll or bring a book and read while sitting by the pond.

Our hotel sent us here and it was a very neat outdoor preserve. It's free and you can leave a donation.

We had a picnic here with friends. It was so quiet and peaceful. The children loved wandering around the gardens. We found plenty of things to spark discussion about plants and animals.

This has to be one of my favorite places in Spartanburg. Its one of those places that makes you want to stay all day. Even though it is located on one of the busiest roads in town it is very peaceful. I wish that my yard looked half as good as this place. The staff does an amazing job keeping... More

My wife and I were driving trough Spartanburg on our way home from Greenville one Sunday and picked up some to go food. We needed somewhere to stop and eat and stumbled upon these gardens. We decided to picnic there, which was a great decision. Spartanburg is lucky to have such a place.

Every now and then you should stop by a place like Hatcher Gardens on your way home from work or between meetings, etc. Leave the smartphone in the car and take a minute to look and listen and breathe. Just walk the trails and enjoy this hidden treat in Spartanburg.
