Our Guide Spaz (sp?) was outstanding from start to finish! Conscientious about safety at all times, full of knowledge regarding kayaking in general, and detailed understanding of the river, its historical significance and biological diversity made this one of the best ever. After kayaking in Costa Rica and other parts of the globe, would highly recommend Black River Outdoors...THREE CHEERS!

My wife and I did the tandem kayak with Black River Outdoors. We chose the 2 hour Cypress swamp tour. Our guide was Spaz and he knew his stuff. We talked the entire time and Spaz told us about the ecosystem, plants, animals, and history of the area. I highly recommend him. We went in the morning at 10:00. The... More

We loved the cypress swamp tour so much, we did the 4 hr Sandy Island tour a couple days later. The guides were very professional and made it extremely educational. They taylored the pace to our experience level(none) and helped us in and out of the kayaks. Paul was determined to catch a snake and jumped in the black swamp... More

My husband and I have been wanting to do a kayak tour for the past 2 years while on vaca. The 2 hr salt marsh tour was perfect! Our guide Mandy was fun, friendly and knowledgable. We saw many bird species and even a bald eagle. We will do the river tour next time.

My wife and I were first time kayakers when we took the 2 hour Cypress Swamp tour on the Waccamaw River. We enjoyed the experience with Black River very much. They made you feel very comfortable and were very professional and informative. It was a beautiful day with just a lovely, calm river experience of wildlife and nature. I would... More

It was hot, but not too hot, as we headed out on the 2 hour swamp tour. Me and my husband, our three kids (4, 7, 13) and my brother in law. Brother in law went tandem with the 7 year old, my husband was tandem with the 4 year old, and the 13 year old and I went solo.... More

My wife and two teenage sons took the Huntington Beach Salt Marsh tour, and it was the highlight of our vacation. The timing of this tour (5:30pm-7:30pm) made for a perfect way to end our last day in Myrtle Beach. The paddling here is easy, even against the tide, and my first-time kayaker wife was all smiles, as were we... More

For some reason we didn't think there were alligators in South Carolina but this kayak tour provided the evidence to the contrary. This was a very good way to spend a morning. I had never kayaked before and I don't know how I could top this first experience. My wife and I went tandem and my two teenage boys each... More

Be sure to reserve ahead as our tour group of 20 was full. You cannot speak to the outfitters on the phone, but the ticketing person was very informative and answered all of our questions. We went at 9:00 a.m. and were fortunate to have a cooler July morning and calm water. The team was very good at getting us... More
