I grew up in SC, and this is the beach we always went to as children. I recently went back, as my brother was married on this beach. He is the second of my four siblings to tie the knot on this beach! This beach has clean bathrooms (as clean as can be, since it's outdoors and everyone is washing... more

This State Park sits right on the ocean and is within walking distance from the campsites to the beach. This place is nice and quiet throughout the day and night. We visited during September and stayed in a tent. During the daytime the temperature hovered around 92 degrees. And during the nighttime, it got cold and we had to bundle... more

What a nice state park... we stayed on the far end of the beach and had a blast... my 4 year old likes to play with others and there was just enough of that... He had a ball. On the way in, you drive over a man-made levee that holds back freshwater. On one side, we saw almost 10 alligators... more

Walking down the beach here you get an idea of what the once native indian tribes and 16th century settlers experienced as they walked the Carolina coastlines 500 years ago. Dunes, sea oats, inland lagoons and behind the dune tidal marshes. Abundant wildlife including deer and free-roaming alligators. Don't let the kids wander down to the marshes or on the... more

we visited huntington beach state park while vacationing in myrtle beach. what turned into a morning trip for something to do for the kids, turned into a wonderful educational family outing. the park offers free excursions to anyone wanting to attend. our kids thoroughly enjoyed them. they are hour long sessions but we could have spent several hours doing each... more

This state park has lots of variety. While it was a little cold so we did not see any alligators, we enjoyed the beauty of the beach and Atalaya, the whimsical/weird house built by the Huntingtons. The staff at the park were all very friendly and welcoming. more

We camped here for a week (rustic tent camping, not RV) in July. The tent sites are really nice, big and private, but there are only 6 of them so book early. The beach is gorgeous and the area accessed from the tent campsites is nearly deserted, which is a real treat for such a beautiful spot. Excellent bird-watching, lots... more

We finally got around to visiting Huntington Beach State Park and it is a beautiful place. The park has a wonderful beach and great nature trails through the forest. There is also a lengthy boardwalk out onto the coastal marsh with plenty of wildlife. We even saw a couple alligators from the causeway leading from the entrance to the main... more

I have to say, when we pulled up the campground I was NOT excited to be staying there. The campground itself could use some updates and most of the sites are very wide open. Once we took some time to look around I realized what an amazing place this really is. There is an excellent bike paved bike path, but... more
