We visit South Carolina often and this beach is one of the best! Just further south of myrtle! It's clean, the water I feel is clearer, and it's less crowded. You can see so much wildlife here off the jetty, it's amazing! Love this beach in just wish I wasn't visiting in the fall time this year.

First visited Brookgreen Gardens which was owned by the Huntingtons and had to come over to see their beach home which is quite unusual. Also took a quick look around the campground. Most of the spaces are quite close as in a regular RV park unless you get the outer circle which is quite closer to the road. The ones... More

My husband and I have lived part time in this area for the last five years. This park is our all time favorite. It never disappoints. Our first stop is always the causeway. It is a rare occasion if you fail to see alligators along with a wide variety of birds. The beach here is also an excellent place for... More

My favorite part of this park is Atalaya Castle. At only $2 admission, it was well worth the cost. All the rooms are barren, but you still get a good idea of how life was back in the '20's. We hiked the trail thru the woods and along the waters edge. Didn't see any gator's, Our only complaint is that... More

I LOVE HBSP. It's $5 for adults, $3 for kids over 5, and 5 and under are free. I'm a bird nerd, so I always stop here on our SC vacations. We got there around 430 in the afternoon, and we were not disappointed. My husband was stoked over all the gators along the causeway. We saw at least a... More

Beautiful beach within a few minutes walk from campground which had spacious shaded sites and good amenities including a nature trail. Restaurant with outdoor patio within walking distance along the beach to the north. Came for a night stayed for four.

We went the day before Christmas and were happily surprised the park and castle were open. It was chilly but not bad. The self guided tour around the castle was both fun and educational. It gave you a taste of the life its former occupants had. We hiked 2 trails- one that led down to a beautiful, undisturbed beach that... More

Great stretch of ocean beach for walking, sun bathing, and nature watching as well as frontage on a tidal salt marsh. Park has several wildlife observation decks in the marsh for bird and alligator watching.----- next to the must see Brook Green Garden

We made prior reservations, which was a good thing because upon arrival they were booked. It's hard when you've never been to know what kind of site you reserved. We were very pleasantly surprised! We had site #127 along the back side of the campground and it was very roomy, private and fully shaded. No problem with leveling or hook... More

Before you get to the beach there is a place where the road crosses some water. There is a gazebo there. If you look very hard you will see alligators. Sometimes they come on the road but they mostly stay in the water.
