We went to check out Atalaya and do some hiking. I really enjoyed visiting Atalaya, It was really interesting, but wish we had some idea how it looked with furnishings. I think it's worth the extra $2 a person to see. We also walked Kerrigan Nature trail behind the ranger/gift store. We ran into a small snake blocking our path... More

Lots to enjoy here if you're interested in nature. Wonderful beaches, too. However, my favorite part was visiting Atalaya, the home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington. I knew nothing about this amazing couple before I took the tour (most days at 2 pm), and found their story fascinating. The house itself is pretty peculiar -- Moorish architectural themes, but... We have been coming to Murrells Inlet for about 5 years. Even though we come in March, we still enjoy going to Huntington State Park. The park is very clean with a beautiful beach, and nice hiking trails. Atalaya is very interesting to tour. We have a pass from Ellington at Wachesaw where we stay.

This was a great place. The beach is wide and long providing hours of walking. The wildlife area is a great place if you enjoy bird watching. There are a few alligators too. We loved our stop here.

Great for beach walking, beach combing or just tanning. Love the Atalaya Craft show in the fall. Overall wonderful beach.

We are spending 3 wonderful days in our camper in the park. The campsites are flat and spacious and the beach is easy walking distance away. But most amazing has been the wildlife. The. Nearby marsh is home to alligators, kinks, hundreds of shorebirds including herons of several species, egrets of at least 2 species and many others.

Campground was nice and quiet and the Park Ranger Lady was super cool. All Rangers were nice. If you decide to camp, be warned, we had a family of raccoon's that I think would have no problem coming into our RV, they were not shy at all. Kinda neat to watch. Beach was awesome, no trash or junk anywhere. If... More

With the bathrooms and showers, its perfect for small children! No sandy wet kids piling in the car.

This is the classiest state park we've booked in several years --- paved roads, new boardwalks to the beach, large private level sites, office has ice, beverages, souvenirs, etc. Better make your reservations early for this one!

Did not see the Alligator's this time, but they are there. Lots of birds Love to hear the sound of the Ocean. Still a little chilly for a long walk, but won't be much longer. Can't wait. Not to many camping right now, but soon it will be over flowing. Bring your bike and go for a ride..
