As a first timer to Jones Gap State Park I really didn't know what to expect. I had read that there was great hiking but that's about it. We arrived just before 11am on a Saturday in mid-April to find a huge line of cars at the entrance. Turns out, there is a limited capacity in the park due to... More

Jones Gap is the best camping and hiking in the Greenville area. Camping by the river is a must. My son (4 years) absolutely loves having access to the river. Primitive camping but still have access to showers with a short hike. Waterfall hikes are amazing especially after large rains.

The first time I visited Jones Gap State Park, it was for a brief time. We were trying to get Rainbow Falls and that's all we did in the park. More recently, my wife and I camped here on our way to Georgia and had a little more time to spend in the park. The camping was very nice. It's... More

Rainbow Falls is an amazing 100-foot freefall over a cliff face. The main way to get to the falls is through Jones Gap State Park. In the past, it was possible to access the falls from Camp Greenville, but this is a very steep and dangerous route. The state park opened a trail to the falls and this is now... More

We have taken a few trips here beginning in the early summer of this year, and this place has become one of our favorite destinations to get away and camp. The park, overall, has been very well taken care of and clean. The only (minor) exception to this was campsite #2, where someone had apparently littered a few rusty barrels... More

We went two weekends because there was so many trails and sights to see. Loved hiking along the river and finding little swimming holes for our three kids. Great hidden treasure.

This mountain is under 2 hours from Charlotte, NC. I went with a hiking group of 9 people. It is $2 per adult to get in. Parking seems limited but if you get there before 10 a.m. you should be okay. When we were leaving around 4 p.m. the Rangers closed the gate at the entrance because they ran out... More

Truly a fantastic series of trails with gorgeous sites around every corner. The Jones Gap Trail was a great deal of fun and full of adventure with log bridges, streams, historic marker, and waterfalls. I do recommend starting at Caesars State Park and hiking to Jones Gap leaving a vehicle at both ends - downhill the entire way!

This park really showcases the beauty of the SC Upstate: mountain trails, tumbling streams, abundant wildlife and several waterfalls. The trails are well maintained, as is the park and its facilities, and you really can't beat it for proximity to the Greenville area. The fee is $2 per adult ($1.25 for Seniors). There's a $2.25 map for sale at the... More

Seriously, folks. Get out and hike. It's extremely healthy (better than jogging or what-not), and it will put you in close contact with part of the hidden gem of South Carolina. This whole area (Mountain Bridge State Natural Area) is rife with great trails for all levels of hiker. If you want a challenging hike, Hospital Rock or Rim of... More
