Played this course a couple of times in the last year and it has been in tremendous shape each time. I think that while it might be visually intimidating the layout is actually very beginner friendly. Pro shop staff was great both times and there is a small snack window as well. Limited food/drink options but the prices are reasonable.... More

This was a warm up round for our foursome after a "few" weeks off from playing in the Chicago area. A very welcoming course and sets up for various play levels. Stay within yourself and you can score but do not get too confident.

Love the way Gary Player sculpted the bunkers, very appealing to the eye. This course played very fair with fun and challenging holes and allligators on the move---we liked the one that appeared after hubby teed off but just before i did exactly in between our two tee boxes...he moseyed on out, lay down for a few to sun himself... I recenly played a round of golf at Cougar Point and really enjoyed it. The course is beautiful and it was in excellent condition. All of the staff members that we came in contact with were very nice and very helpful. The starters do a great job of setting the pace of play and spacing out the groups so you... More

Second best to Ocean Course...we played immediately after aerification (we were properly warned) and we enjoyed our time on the course.....really great track...not easy, but fair and fun to play. Dont miss this one....many levels better than turtle point.

Cougar is considered by many to be the "easiest" of the public courses at Kiawah. This course has a bit more of a resort feel to it (more open fairways and much more approachable than the other courses) but don't be lulled into believing you can coast through as there are carries, enough water to grab a few balls, and... Good conditions. With the marsh on the front nine and several dog-legs on the back nine, we found this layout more interesting than Turtle Point. We played in the afternoon and had the whole course to ourselves. Paid $105/person in the afternoon.

The course is by no means super long, however the hazards and sand traps are placed beautifully to make it challenging. The course was manicured very nicely. I played after 3:00pm and the pace was great.
