Big beach, lots of room to spread out!

We moved to Charleston several years ago and fell in love with the beach at Kiawah. We came every weekend with our dogs all season - even with thr parking headaches during peak months. When we choce to buy a home here, we chose a neighborhood close to Kiawah just for this reason. We found recently that the ordinances have... More

We're residents. We used to bring our dogs to the beach here in order to play off-leash with other dogs in the dog designated area. As of this season, the beach is off limits to dogs except on leashes, which as we all know, means no fun for the dogs. So we're done with Kiaweh. It is a lovely beach... More

This is a great public beach and, perhaps because it was spring break and not summer, we had tons of parking. We rode our rental bikes up to this entrance one day too so it was quite convenient to access all of Kiawah's beaches. Sit up higher and away from the ocean for softer sand - remember, people ride bikes... More

Pulling up to the entrance gate can be a bit ominous when you're the fourth or fifth car in the queue, but be assured that there is space for you on the beach. The $7 for parking daily or $70 for the annual Charleston County Parks permit seemed reasonable. The parking lot is relatively small which, in essence, keeps the... More

Only $7.00 to park gives you nice bathrooms, showers, and easy access to a relatively open beach. This is my favorite beach to walk my dog. Leashes are required, but it is a great place to enjoy nature on a wide and open beach. Expect to see sea life, birds, and sand dunes. Love it!

Only $7 admission, great beach, decent services (showers and bathrooms), fun fishing. Great walk to the inlet - 1.5 miles one way. Prepare to see dolphins, great birds, etc.

This beach is amazing, has been rated on top 10 American beaches more than once! This is NOT a beach town, no hotels, t shirt shops, bars, etc...just a beautiful beach which is huge at low tide, dunes are beautiful. It is a county park so there are bathrooms, outside shower, and a small snack bar up by the parking... More

Access to the beach from the parking area is through a service area with vending machines and toilets. Being there in off season there were no charges. You can bring your dog and let him run free if you dare do so. The beach is extensive and almost all yours in the off season. Careful of the protected areas and... More

My wife and I were on a road trip from Charleston, SC to Savannah, GA and thought we would stop and check out Kiawah Island. After our attempt to get into Kiawah was thwarted upon learning that "everything is private", we were told we could go down the street to the beach. We were definitely glad we did. The parking...
