Our first visit to Kiawah Island, a quiet and elegant retreat with lush low country vegetation and massive homes that rival any upscale coastal development. Golfing is the main attraction, with beachcombing and bike riding almost a second thought. Notable is the lack of much in the way of general services such as on-island restaurants, shops, etc. outside of Freshfields... More

Golf, tennis, biking on the sand or the network of trails. Boogie boarding, the Night Heron Park with endless fun for kids - Kamp Kiawah, free magic show at night, water slides. There's enough to keep a family busy and happy for weeks.

I think this quote from my wife says it all "I think we have to make this an annual Easter Week Tradition!" We really enjoyed the activities, the biking on and off the beach, the Night Heron Pool is my son's favorite. Even more than the soccer clinic. Had a great trip that none of us wanted to leave. They... More

I have been to Kiawah Island three times. This was my first with the kids. I went as a teenager in 1991. Since then the island has built up but it is still the most peacefull beach vacation. We rented a 3 bedroom cottage in West Beach. Love the location since it is close to the beach and entrance to... More

There is plenty to do on Kiawah but there is also plenty not to do if you so choose. I enjoy an escape from the rat race so this is perfect for me. We spend most of our days swimming and fishing in the ocean and relaxing on the beach. A couple of highlights are the Mingo Point oyster roast... More

This was our first trip to Kiawah Island and we already can't wait to return! We loved that the island was a gated, private island. You have to have a pass that proves you are staying on the island to even enter. The island itself is breathtaking! You could make a day of just driving around looking at all the... More

Liked everything about our stay! The Sanctuary is the place to go if you want to be pampered. The only unknown is the weather, which can quickly change overnight.

It was just a very short walk from the parking lot, and parking was free. Nice showers and the shelling was fantastic. One of the prettiest beaches in South Carolina. Quiet and private.

Kiawah island is the US best kept secret. It's secluded and top notch. It's never crowded (great) and quiet. Staying at the Sanctuary is the way to go. You want a vacation? The Sanctuary will make you feel relaxed.
