This being the 3rd time we visited Kiawah island we have gone to love this place. From the perfect beach to being in a nature preserve this place has it all for us. The island offers the possibility to bike the virtually endless beach or the myriad of bike trails. We added fishing and crabbing in the marsh to our... More

Kid friendly beach extreme tides. Loved crabbing at night. Bike paths everywhere mostly flat. Even bike on the beach. Little shops at Fresh Fields great! History & Nature abounds.

The beach is wide with only the slightest slope to the ocean. It is hard and you can ride bikes on it easily. The water is very warm and the ocean gentle (even when its rough). The dunes are gorgeous. This is definitely a Southerners' beach ...

Just got back from another stay at Kiawah Island. We brought friends with us this time. We wanted to share what we feel is a very special place. They really loved it! We got to see a lot of wildlife this visit, which is always fun. Spent time at the beach and in Charleston. We got lucky, the hurricane was... More

Fun place for a family. We traveled here with 15 of us (9 adults and 6 kids) and rented a beach house. There are beautiful grounds and marshes. It's nice because it's not too crowed anywhere. There is a great biking trail system that is good for all ages. There are very few downsides to this area!

Very nice destination for all ages. There is a lot to like with a little downside. GOOD: Beautiful grounds and marshes. Not very crowded and quite quite and peaceful. Lot of uncrowded beach. Long bike trail. Lot of excellent swim, golf and tennis. Several food choices of different types. Very polite and attentive service. Free shuttle on the island. Not... More

By far, my family and I's favorite beach to visit. We rent out a house a few blocks from the water and walk down to the beach. We bring our bikes and ride on the beach and on the miles of bike trails through the island. Very perfect place. Great for spotting gators too!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this Island is. It's beautiful, peaceful and pristine. They've managed to merge nature with expansion of homes and vacation rentals. Animals galore and yes, do watch out for alligators. I look forward to many return trips.

Having vacationed in Florida several times with our kids (8 & 10) we decided to switch things up. We weren't sure what to expect but Kiawah blew us away. Charming, secluded, great beach access, incredibly friendly staff. We arranged for bicycle rentals, which turned out great. Lots of beautiful wooded paths to explore, along golf courses, pools and cute little... More

Kiawah does have miles of beautiful sand for walking, biking or just hanging out. The sand is very compact. Also, don't expect a lot of shells.
