IOP County Park is a great place to spend a day. Admission price of only $8 gets you all day parking, rest rooms and showers as well as a clean beach with lifeguards. Bring a chair, sit back and relax to the sound of the rolling surf.

My family and I visited here over the Memorial Day weekend and it was way over crowded. The beach was packed with thugs. The smell of marijuana was thick in the air. And the cops just drove on by. I don't know if all the beaches in Charleston are like this but we will not be back here. If I... More

I was confused as to how this is actually qualified as a park. Basically, it is more like a $7 a vehicle parking lot with access to the beach. There is a few picnic tables and some playground equipment, but I guess I just expected more. If you don't plan on spending the whole day, drive down about a 1/4... More

Didn't spend much time here, but could easily have spent many hours. It was not beach weather, but wanted to get out and see it. Had my first up-close look at a jellyfish.

There are lots of beaches to visit along the Eastern Coast but this is a favorite. Why? -20 minutes from the airport -pristine beach with plenty of elbow room -beachfront reasonably priced ample parking (or better yet buy a $60 whole year free Charleston County parking pass good at all parks) -well maintained clean bathrooms and dressing rooms -on site... My visit was in may so the water was ..cool.. but refreshing. in the morning i was able to jog on the beach before body surfing in the waves. the beach is wide, flat and clean which made... More

The first day we went had quite a few people but wasn't overcrowded. Its a nice place to take children and families. The second day was so packed we couldn't find parking but going through the week is best and not on weekend days. We fully enjoyed it though.

I'm here for a few days and paid $7 to park and when I lived here I had a county parks pass valid for a year, well worth the investment. Simply put I love this beach area. You can bring your charcoal and grill on their grills or you can walk to one of the local restaurants, everything from Subway... More
