Clean & family friendly. It was cooler, mid to upper 60's (at home it was snowing & 12 degrees) but we really enjoyed ourselves. Restrooms clean, parking close (& free-guess since we were there in off season), not crowded and beautiful beaches!

Must be amazing during the summer, but on a chilly January day you can only spend so much time on the beach. Clean bathrooms, nice parking, good views.

I've been going to the IOP county park since I moved down here 15 years ago. The sand is fine and soft. The water tends to be a little warmer as the Gulf Stream runs close. Playground for the kids, rarely overcrowded and parking is close. Changing rooms, facilities and snack-bar right there. Picnic tables with BBQ also.

Must check out this beach area (well equipped for any family). Wish dogs were allowed on the beach but I understand why not....

Isle of palms is just minutes from Charleston and is very beautiful. However there isn't much to actually do here except the beach. So I would say it is great for young families and senior visitors because it is small and seems private and calm. But teens would want something fun to do. But there are other attractions not too... very nice beach area and family friendly with parking lot (during high season 7$, off season for free) and with good showers and changing cabins. The waves has been easy for small kids and no strong current. If you are looking for more beach action you need to go to folly beach! / but sometimes quite strong current.

The pier shown on the pic is private!!! We paid 7 dollars for the parking for nothing. I would prefer this posts to be more transparent. Even they wanted to rent us fishing poles.

this is a great beach location. there are showers, changing facilities, restrooms and limited food selections and during the peak season the beach is "guarded". there is also a small park with BBQ's and tables and two covered shaded setting for picnics. this is a great family beach and frequented by families. parking is $7/day. there are a few bars... The park area was impressive. It had very nice restrooms, shower areas and walk way leading to the beach. It is well maintained. We were there during off season so there was not anyone even staffing the pay booth, and only 7 cars in the parking lot. I can only imagine it is packed in the summer. I would love... More

I go to this beach and park all the time. It's not very touristy but there are plenty of people. In the off season, you can let the dogs off leash after 4. Every dog has been respectful and well behaved. Never a mishap. Also, people love to say hello to your dogs and will even invite them over to... More
