We took our granddaughter and we loved the stories he had to tell about legends, and the history of Georgetown along with the animals like the Bald Eagles and their huge nests as he pointed them out..

We enjoyed this trip so much a few years ago, we went back again this year when we were south. Growing up in the area, Capt Rod is just so pleasant to listen to with his vast wealth of local history. The boat trip is wonderful seeing eagles, dolphins and a variety of other birds. Shell island is an entity... More

Captain Rod was a great story teller and knew the history of the Georgetown area. The tour included history of the rice plantations along the river, a visit to the lighthouse and an island to collect wonderful shells. He told you how to find the large shell and pointed many of the Bald Eagles in the area.. Great trip for... More

On March 22, 2014 we took another trip with family and friends , Luke and the great Cap'n Rod. Actually he guided us through a severe thunderstorm on the way back to Georgetown.. Cap'n Rod is a very knowledgable guide with a good sense of humor. We took a combination tour: lighthouse and plantation. The best part of the trip was shelling. I thought that the advertisements for the tours were deceptive in that we never toured a lighthouse or a plantation. We just drove by them on the boat. Note the trip... More

We went on the tour and had a wonderful time. Captain Rod was very interesting with his comments on the boat ride by the plantations. The island with the lighthouse is a true jewel. Great place to see and collect shells. The trip makes one appreciate the natural beauty of the coast of South Carolina. The captain also pointed native... More

We had a wonderful experience visiting the Georgetown light house and hearing about the local culture. We saw 7 bald eagles and numerous porpoise. Capt Rod and Fran were wonderful to work making this adventure easy and most enjoyable. I... More

My traveling companions and I boarded Cap'n Rod's Plantation tour boat around 2:30 PM on Friday, October 11, a beautiful fall day in Georgetown. They provided a personal touch right from the beginning. We made reservations, so check-in was just a quick exchange of cash. Please note this is a cash only business, and we took advantage of AAA discount.... More
