Had a wonderful time with "Doug" the captain of the sightseeing tour. Very knowledgeable about the history of the area with humor thrown in. We enjoyed watching for different wildlife, viewing an old lighthouse during our route. The highlight of our tour was letting us off and let everyone collect beautiful shells and viewing the beautiful driftwood. Drinks and snacks... More

This is the best thing that we did while in Myrtle beach! We had the best time on this tour and got some great shells. We strongly recommend this to our friends.

Captain Rod is a former history teacher and it shows. He's very informative and entertaining. It's a 4 hour tour but he offers a very reasonable $1 cold sodas/water and snacks so there's no need to lug a cooler. He deserves his high rating.

As a tour guide, I recently wrapped up a four day tour of the Pawleys Island area with Cap'n Rods tour of Hobcaw Barony and Winyah Bay. Our group of 27 from all over the US was totally blown away with the history and natural beauty of the tour from live gators to the plantation where Michelle Obama's ancestors were... More

We drove about 50 minutes from Myrtle Beach to take this tour. Captain Rod is very entertaining and knows a lot about history and nature. He gave us a unique tour while entertaining us with his stories. He definitely tells it like it is. The boat is covered so you can sit in the shade and a restroom is available.... More

The tour is great. I've went 3 different years and each year we've had the same guys,..Doug and his son Luke. Super nice guides. They know a lot about the area and are extremely polite. The only complaint I have is: Once you get to the island (hightlight of the trip) you feel a little rushed. Wished they allowed more... More

If you want to know anything about Georgetown, SC, but didn't really know that you did, you must take this tour, and you get to throw in an hour and a half looking for shells. We initially went for the shells, but Cap'n Rod gave us an in depth history of his home, and he was able to do so... More

My husband and I have taken this trip several times along with different family members. We absolutely LOVE it. Captain Rod sure knows his stuff!! The trip is gorgeous, we always see lots of wildlife, and we love the history. Shell Island is a great place to pick up shells or just take a stroll. The trip is extremely affordable... More

We called in the morning to try to take the afternoon tour. (They leave out just before low tide) It was already booked. It was the only day we were going to be in the area so I stopped by about 10 before their scheduled departure. Cap't Rod and Ms. Fran were great. They said someone had not showed up... More

Captian Rod has a wealth of local information and is a great story teller. We have taken the lighthouse shelling tour several times over the years and have never been disappointed. The tour is excellent and I would recommend it to everyone who wants an up close view of the area. The shelling is fabulous and I have always returned... More
