A trip to Botany Bay is very worthwhile if you are in the area. It is run by the DNR, and it is free. You do sign in when you enter. You drive through wildlife areas that are on the sites of two former plantations. The ice house with its Gothic architecture on the grounds of Bleak Plantation is so... More

This is a self-guided tour of an old plantation and its grounds. If you go, you have to make the trek out to the beach to take in its natural beauty!

Visited while staying on Edisto Beach. Drive around the plantation is easy and the map provided guides you through it. We saw Egrets, an alligator and other birds. The beach is a 0.5mile walk and it didn't seem long. the beach is lovely with old trees and many, many shells. Worth the visit

We visited this afternoon (6/23) and only stayed for about an hour. We saw deer, alligators, and turtles as well as some really cool plantation ruins. We will be back later this week to check out the beach and spend some more time exploring.

Something a local told us about, turned into a treat and hidden treasure. The beach is amazing, all natural in an undisturbed state. Breathtaking scenery, unlike I have ever encountered. Clear blue skies made for some great photos! The 6.5 mile tour through the plantation...ehh the beach was much better if I had to choose between te two. But made... More
