we camped one night in the Live Oak Campground. It was nice with a new bath house and electric and water. Our ATT phone service was consistent at 2-3 bars. They even had an ice cream truck that came through camp. Since it was on the cool side we did not have ice cream! The beach area is not accessible... More

We tent camped in the rustic camping area. Which was perfect. Not to far of a walk but just far enough away to feel like we were away from everything. We camped with our 7 year old daughter and another couple that had two small children. The rustic sites are on the marsh and big enough for two families to... More

The beach campground is lovely! Shopping is very limited, no launderettes. Go prepared. Coming back!

Nice to be on the beach. Got here 10 minutes early..will not let us in! Said it was park rangers. 10 min. REALLY! Had to wait till 2. What! Never had this happen ever. Everyone is gone at Noon. So what's 10 mins! No outdoor showers as well said new rule up the coast; not hunting island. Go there! One... More

Tent camped at the live oaks section of the park. Loved the campsite...loved the beach....the bathrooms were clean and even had a fan....a plus since it was 100°. The staff is very welcoming and laid back.....got boiled peanuts from a little truck that came through the campsite....only issue was...make sure to get rid of trash or put in your car... More

This is a great state park (I may be biased, I spent quite a bit of my childhood and teen years here.) Less than an hour from our home, we enjoy visiting here over the summer. The park is beautiful - we camped here and had a great time. Look forward to next summer!

As a moderately obsessed sheller (as in I have been known to plan vacations around shelling) I thought I'd weigh in on this aspect of the park for those interested. Yes, there are a lot of shells along the water line and in the wash, but most of them are run of the mill. The most "exotic" shell parts I... More

Edisto Beach State Park has great trails, scenery, and interpretive programming. The interpretive center, which is also the Visitors Center for the ACE Basin National Wildlife Sanctuary, has awesome exhibits, including a touch tank for the kids, an interactive replica of a shrimp boat, a full 12-foot long alligator skeleton, a great collection of shells and fossils, and much more.... After reading about the shelling here in several travel guides, we brought the kids down here with high hopes. This was not worth the drive. If you have been to Sanibel or Captiva Island, this place is an absolute let down. Very few shells to be found and the shells that you do find, are gray and ugly.

I drove in late and was assigned a site with water and electricity (even though I didn't need either). Found out today that the site was 50 a night. Nope, wasn't notified last night when I could have gone elsewhere. But why am I paying 50 a night for something I can still go online and get for 38 a... More
