This place definitely exceeded expectations. It seems like an odd attraction on Edisto Island, but it was surprisingly big and had a ton of reptiles. It's a break from the beach and worth the trip.

We visited with teenagers, a young child, and an older father. I was a little skeptical, thinking there was a decent chance that it was going to be a handful of cheesy displays and not much more. I was very nicely surprised! The exhibits were very well put together habitats. The alligator feeding was educational and entertaining. The highlight for... More

We had a great experience at the Serpentarium with our young children. They found the snake shows to be fascinating and the alligator feedings were "cool, awesome, amazing".

If you're into reptiles and gators, you'll love the Serpentarium in Edisto. Lots of indoor / outdoor exhibits including a very informative snake talk and gator feeding. They even have an albino alligator. Worth the visit if you're an animal love, have kids, or just have a couple of hours to kill.

The Serpentarium is a great way to spend a few hours. It was a great family outing when my niece and her two boys came to visit. The grounds are very well maintained and the boys certainly loved searching the exhibits to see who could find the most snakes, turtles, etc. The alligator feeding also caught the attention of everyone.... Our family is nature oriented and we have been to loads of zoos and animal parks. The Serpentarium was very low key, but nonetheless professional. The program for the alligator feeding was the most informative i have witnessed (yes i have actually witnessed multiple alligator feedings). The snake show as well. The two professionals presenting were lifelong afficionados, and highly... More

This was a real treat. We've forced the kids to see some pretty bad animal and natural history exhibits on our vacations but this was one they enjoyed. There are quite a few large venomous snakes and huge alligators on display. Definitely try to visit during the alligator feeding time, it's worth watching.

Got to see the alligators being fed and the grand kids held a snake. They loved it! I'm not a snake lover but the kids loved seeing all the different kinds of snakes and reptiles. They loved the turtles also. I didn't like walking under some of the trees after I learned that some of the snakes lived in trees!... More

I reluctantly took my granddaughters to this place because my oldest loves snakes and bugs and knows all about them. I was afraid it would be a cheesy snake farm but it was far from that. This is really a zoo. All the animals are displayed in what appears to be appropriate habitat and they have a nice selection of... More

As a local I have passed by many times and read about the serpetarium. Finally took my grandkids age 8 and 5. The serpetarium is a mini zoo specializing in snakes, turtles, and reptiles. Our visit would have been average but the staff put on shows that really boost the interest. The kids got to learn about and see all... More
