I work Downtown Columbia and used to like to walk Finley Park during my lunch hour. But there are far more homeless staying there now than there use to be. They don't really bother you, but it's really uncomfortable walking through. It's a shame, I love the waterfall.

Bring your blanket, dog, kids and some food and chill @ Finley. Over the 4th I went down and watched the Columbia Philharmonic play and it was awesome. It's a nice city park..

Decent place for a picnic with family-though always keep an eye on the kids. Homeless are everywhere in park. Don't go at night=crime. In the summer nice family friendly concerts are put on.

I use to take my oldest son, now 19 yrs old, there all the time. He was around 4-5 yrs old then. We had the most wonderful time. We took our lunch, had a picnic, explored the waterfalls and climbed up and dow the stairs over and over.. It was fabulous memories... I went there this past weekend and both... More

Sorry, but although the park is pretty and located in downtown, you have to be leary of the homeless and pan handlers. Like going with a group to the variety of concerts and walking there with my husband or friends, but not comfortable alone.

This park was a jewel when it opend, and my kids and I spent countless hours exploring the tumbling brooks, waterfalls and extensive play areas. It is now filled with homeless men sleeping in the bushs, lot's of not so hidden drug use, panhandling. Well meaning local churches that set up soup kitchens only add to the problem. Unless you... Now it has alot of apartments around, limited parking and alot of homeless have no place to go and stay there. It is sad to go there now, if you can find a parking place.
