At over 20 years old now, the park is ready for some serious maintenance. It could be a lovely green space in the heart of the city, but the park is home to a lot of the homeless. There is a summer concert series held there, but safety is an issue after dark. The city is supposedly funding a facelift... More

We were staying with 3 kids and the hotel recommended this park to get the boys outside. First we parked and there was NO ramp or stroller access to get down, so we ended up having to carry our twins down VERY steep steps and my older son walked. there were a lot of homeless around, so I was a... The overlooks near the parking lot offer scenic views of the Columbia skyline. I visited twice to photograph the city--once late in the afternoon and again after dark. The park closes at 6:00 PM...but sunset in December is well before that. As in so many places throughout Columbia, the parking in the park is metered. It's not very expensive at... More

Drove over to the park on a sunny Monday afternoon. Fountains not working, park is much smaller than the photos suggest, and many homeless people hanging around. Didn't get out of my car.

Lived in Columbia for several years, and this was a really nice park in the middle of the city. They have a lot of events there, and some nice benches that you can overlook the city. The biggest problem is that there are a lot of homeless people that live there which can be uncomfortable.

One of the best fountains and a big view and it’s the best point of the interest of attraction for this park. Also being in the heart of the downtown Columbia it’s a great place to relax and picnic. Ground are well kept and it’s also a great place for the evening walk This has great play area for kids... More

I enjoyed coming down here during school to see the skyline and study for class during the week before my downtown job started in the evening. I also enjoyed the summer concerts and the occasional oyster roasts that were hosted here. Weekends brought families and students from USC to enjoy the large greenspace. And then Columbia decides to build/expand some... More

Named in honor of former mayor Kirkman Finlay (commonly misspelled “Finley”), this 14-acre oasis in downtown Columbia is the city’s flagship urban park. During my recent visit on a very hot June afternoon I spent most of my time on the walking path close to the little lake, which is the park's functional epicenter and visual centerpiece. The other water... More

I went to the Gospel Fest in Finley Park during the Memorial Day weekend. It consisted of local church groups and choirs. There were Awesome singers with amazing voices at the Gospel Fest. There was so many people there. Marcus D.Wiley mingled and entertained the audience. He and the staff took selfies with people out of the audience. VBM (Victorius... More

I visit this park often, and always take family and friends from out of town here. There are two parking lots, one off Taylor Street and one off Laural Street. Plenty of things to do for people of all ages. There is a homeless shelter not too far and occasionally you will see them sitting on the stairs near the... More
