This is one place anyone would enjoy, especially people who have served in the military or know someone who has. The people who organized this knew what they were doing. They all have worked diligently to keep this up and running. It is a good place to go to see something different!

Very (happily) surprised by the quality of the pieces and displays! A must visit. Vehicles, weapons, everything. Serial number on Sioux helicopter was 1.

Only the connections, motivation and ingenuity of a National Guard state headquarters could make this activity possible. It began literally as one room in Sumter a few years ago. A forward looking Adjutant General gathered resources, funds, and a small staff to relocate and greatly expand the collection in Columbia. Almost anything "military and South Carolina" is on display. Lots... More

Lots of history of the confederate time in the south with some military from WWI, WWII, Korean War and Vietnam. Not good for very young children - better for high school and up and of course adults.

A surprising large and professionally maintained military museum, with artifacts from early colonial times up through all of our nation's conflicts to the present. Vehicles, weapons, uniforms... it's all here for the military history buff.

I think a lot of people don't know of this museum. Two of my relatives living in Columbia didn't. This museum has uniforms, guns, sea rations, etc. from every war. They have full size tanks. My husband is a Vietnam Vet and spent a very long time looking at everything.

Best military museum I've visited. Friendly staff, great displays and free. A must see. The museum was full of artifacts, firearms and transportation items used throughout the wars fought by the US , emphasizing South Carolina's role in these conflicts.
