I had a great paddle at Harbison. However, there are a few steps to get there: 1. There is a $5 fee to get into Harbison. Have correct change (envelope drop). 2. You must file a float plan with park office to get combination to access road to parking lot to get to boat landing. Road has decent ruts in... More

My wife and I enjoyed the beautiful weather in the state forest. Had a picnic lunch and relaxed in the outdoors. Nice to know the state takes such wonderful care of their natural resources.

This is a wonderful peaceful park. Great for hiking or biking. It's a nice place for serenity and tranquility. You would never guess it's in the middle of the city. It makes you want to think about camping and getting back to nature. Bohemian moments of peace.

Close in gem. Great trails through old forest. Some trails lead to the Broad River. Beautiful getaway close to the city. Ample parking near Broad River Road. We've hiked and biked in Harbison Forest for years. Great place for kids to enjoy the outdoors. Remember to take water and snacks.

There is not a lot of scenery, but the trail is great for exercise. Many different trails to hit for hiking, biking, or running. Always people on the trails. Get a map!

Tons of trails for hikers and bikers of all skills levels. It's a great outdoor getaway if you don't feel like taking the long drive to the mountains. It's bigger than it seems, so you won't feel over-crowded. Also has a couple access points to the Broad River. You can literally spend an hour here , or all day if... More

If your in the area do not miss the park. I was just driving by and decided to stop, I am very glad I did. Take the time and get some pictures of the family and you will return for years to come.

My wife and sons came to Columbia SC to visit our daughter and son in law. After 4 days at the beach (Edisto), we took the dogs up to Harbison State Forest. A lot like back home in Western Pennsylvania, they have a great trail system at Harbison. The $5.00 fee per car for visitation was very modest for the... More

Harbison State Forest is an ideal place for off trail running. It is also one of the mountain biking areas around Columbia. One piece of advice is to pay attention to the map of trails. It is very easy to get off on the wrong trail as many of them branch or cross over one another. Once familiar with the... More
