worth a walk

Go early or after rush hour to avoid traffic noise. Great view from the top. There is parking on the Mt. Pleasant side, but from downtown it's an easy walk.

It is hard to get a nice shot of the bridge. I skulked around on many back roads in the dark and was able to get a decent shot with a 300mm lens. Make sure you wear bug repellant.

Weather was great and had a fabulous run! Charleston's bridge run is like none other - the run and after run socializing is the best.

If you're traveling to Charleston, you'll likely cross this 10-year old cable-stay bridge. Quite a sight.

My son, who lives in Charleston, had just done the Cooper River Bridge Run when I came to visit. When he showed me the bridge, I just had to walk across---and I'm glad I did! The views are great and the bridge itself is an engineering marvel! There is a great little park where you can leave your car safely.... More

This is what urban planning hopes to be. Ravenel Bridge is gorgeous in itself even if you just drive over it, but set aside a morning or evening to walk, run or bike it and see the view of Charleston. At 2.5 miles each way it's the perfect jaunt, and if the exercise doesn't take your breath away, the view... More

This is a long bridge with a great view where you can see lots of activity from other walkers/runners to all kinds of boats and a look into downtown Charleston (a little different perspective). It is around two miles one way so be prepared for a nice walk/run across this magnificent bridge. Enjoy the views from the Arthur Ravenel Jr.... More

we stayed in a hotel on Mt. Pleasant that was walking distance to the bridge. each morning we got up early and ran to and across the bridge. what a great view and lots of friendly people doing the same thing we were. just be safe and stay in the pedestrian lane the bikes really fly down hill.

This is a cool drive. Bridge has great views of the Harbor and the city! Going north you also have a view of Patriots Point and Fort Sumpter!
