Based on other reviews on TripAdvisor, we took the advice and scheduled our tour early in the visit. This was a great way to become familiar with the downtown streets and their historic significance. I highly recommend this tour! Everything was timed well and handled professionally. It's a great tour for children and adults. Great scenery! Note: The company provides... More

We had a great tour with Tim and Elwood, the Percheron draft horse pulling our carriage. When you tour by carriage, you stop at a city kiosk where the driver is given his route by lottery draw. This helps to keep the traffic moving because the main streets are not clogged by carriages. Unfortunately, this means that you may not... More

Matt was our driver and guide. He was great. He dressed in period costume(the only one). He was a wealth of knowledge and very humorous to boot. Kids and adults had a good time.

Since my daughter is studying the Civil War, this tour was a must do! What a great tour! Our guide was incredibly funny, intelligent and full of civil war info! We drew the bingo ball for Route #1, which includes the battery and Rainbow Row, so lots of great photo ops as well! Dakota is the largest horse they have,... More

Greg, our guide, first explained how the horses are cared for - in case we wondered. And we usually do after hearing horror stories of the treatment of horses in Mackinac Island, MI. Once assured that Classic Carriage Tours takes suburb care of their co-workers, the horses, off we went to hear of the architecture, the politics, churches, Civil War,... More

We have always wanted to take a carriage ride to see sites. We found out early that you really never know which route they will be taking because they don't like to overcrowd one area. Our route was interesting and our horse was Carson. Our guide was very knowledgeable regarding civil war info which is what my husband was excited... More

After reading the reviews here, we decided to tour with Classic and requested Patrick, again based upon the recent positive reviews. Thank you Tripadvisor! There are at least 5 carriage tour companies here and we had a chance to see and hear some of the other tours and feel Classic runs the best operation. Patrick made an interesting point while... First off, you should know that there are 5 carriage companies in the downtown charleston area awaiting your business to take you on a carriage ride tour. My husband and I called one of the competitors on the phone to inquire about a carriage for 2 people and I was made to think that the only way I could confirm... More

It was just pure chance that we decided to take a Classic Carriage Works tour but we are so glad we did! Our tour guide Patrick, and his horse Berry were full of Southern hospitality and charm. Patrick is very well-read with a great sense of humour and that made the 1 hour ride very enjoyable. Definitely recommended!

Most people seemed to be going to this co. but I doubt the other 4 carriage companies are any worse. We were the first to buy tickets for our carriage and waited to be first in line so we could choose our seats. Our son wanted to sit in the back and I wanted a clear, unobstructed view out the... Having spoken to all of our employees, no one remembers a group insisting on the back row when you posted this review. Typically when a customer wants a certain seat on the carriage, they let us know when they buy the tickets or check in, not when the carriage is about to be loaded. We try to accommodate seating requests... More
