We selected Classic Carriage Works because it was a smaller operation. Matt, our guide, was a history major and just fabulous. Elwood, our huge horse, did a great job of maneuvering us through the streets. I would definitely book again on a return visit and I would hope to get Matt. Be aware that the carriages are regulated by the... More

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are one of the smaller companies in town, and that gives us the opportunity to make sure that every one our tour guides are the best in the business. When you decide to come back to Charleston, if you don't want to leave it up to luck, you can always make... More

The guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. I learned so much and so very relaxing to trot along the old sweet Southern roads.

Went on this tour with friends. Really enjoyed the opportunity to see the city and learn about its history through the Civil War and beyond. Our guide was friendly and had lots of interesting anecdotes that made for an especially interesting tour. There are numerous carriage companies in Charleston, but this one also stood out to us because the horses... More

My wife and I took the tour and had a great time. We learned a lot of interesting things about the area. And even was shown a house that recently sold $13.5 million. Every ride is different so we will definitely be doing this again when in the area. A must for every one you won't regret.

A fun little experience! I'm actually a Charleston native myself, born and raised, but I'd only ever been on one of these when I was too young to remember, and I figured there would be things I didn't know about my own city. I was right! It was also just a really nice, pretty tour of the historic districts, including... More

Todd gave us a great tour that was both fun and educational. He was very knowledgable about the history of Charleston. They company was also very accommodating to me as they took my wheelchair and had it had the barn where we finished the tour. I would go with them again any time.

We took the Civil War tour and the guide was extremely knowledgeable and it made it for a very interesting tour in addition to the beautiful homes and Charleston history.

Unless you take a private tour, there is a lottery system that routes your tour. However,we weren't told this until AFTER we paid and AFTER we were on the carriage. We were about to go with another company when a Classic Carriage Works representative lured us over with a promise of their "BEST" guide on the next tour. Of course,we were... More

You should research tour companies before you go. Those that do their due diligence tend to book with our company. All of the carriages in Charleston, including the private carriages, are regulated by the city and are subjected to the city's lottery system for dispersing carriage traffic. This is posted on our website: "The specific route is randomly assigned by... More
