Daniel Island is just northwest of Mount Pleasant over the Wando River Bridge. It's a pretty quiet island outside of Charleston, unless there's a concert or tennis tournament at the Family Circle Cup. If you attend one of these events, expect to pay a small fee for event parking. There's also the DI Farmers Market each Thursday from May 1st... More

The light show at Christmas time on James Island is spectacular. It's relatively inexpensive and you can drive through as many times as you want. There are art displays from the schools in the area, walking trails and food (hot dogs, etc) to eat. The people who work there are all very nice and accommodating. It's a nice treat for... More

I've been here once recently when my husband worked down here. Absolutely gorgeous location, would love to come do a photo shoot here in the future. Had no idea this area existed until I met my husband but very thankful to have had the chance to visit!

Lovely Island. 15 min from Charleston, 15 min to Sullivan's Island Beach. 15 min from airport. Semmets is a great restaurant on the island. The owner paintings hang in the restaurant. Great food, great service.

We took a drive through Daniel Island and there was some nice view and stopping areas. A small lake that we were able to stop and view and walk along with setting areas we saw fish, birds and nice houses.

If you are visiting from out of town, there isn't that much to see/do on Daniel Island. There are a few cute shops: Monkee, Paisley and a few others and there is a great restaurant - Laura Albrecht's. Other than that - if you aren't there to play tennis/golf, I can't imagine why you would visit here on a trip... More

As Mt. Pleasant becomes more and more crowded which is evident by the commute anywhere, Daniel island is positioned as the place to live in Charleston. Why? For starters it is safe. Kids can ride bikes and play in parks and not have to dodge traffic. The community has been planned for families. Though I don't live on DI, the... More

If your are looking for an alternative, Daniel Island is worth the stop. Though it is situated a 15 minute drive to the beach or downtown Charleston the atmosphere is comfortable and laid back. It was fun to check out the island and I especially liked Semet, the restaurant. There are other restaurants to choose from on the island, a... More

Daniel Island is a relatively new housing development just upriver from Charleston with easy access by car or boat. It is not yet fully developed so it will be a few years before it has the look and feel of a complete community, but it already has several very good restaurants and wonderful amenities.
