Owner description: The Footlight Players were ceremoniously launched in 1931 with a series of one-act plays directed by Lieutenant Commander Charles Russell Price at the Charleston Navy yard. The series was such a success and drew such a following that The Footlight Players formally organized and incorporated in the fall of 1932. What began as a small group has become for Charleston a theatrical tradition, built and strengthened over many years by hundreds of willing hands, the priceless gifts of time and toil, and by faith, enthusiasm and talent. Footlight Players is poised to continue its rich tradition of quality community theatre and reach new heights of entertainment, creative development, and cultural enrichment. We welcome your participation as a patron, volunteer, business partner, actor, crew or any of the myriad aspects of live theater.

My wife and I happened to walk by this small theatre. It looked interesting so we went in. 10$ a person for a very good show, in a repurposed 19th century warehouse. Cast was great, you can tell they do what they do out of love for the art.

Very interesting building and the murals in the theater tell a story about Charleston theater. Have attended seven years at Footlight and always amazed how non-payed actors are fantastic because they love their craft. Go see a show!!!

Community theater is often under rated and I was thrilled with our experience at footlight! We saw "don't dress for dinner" and was laughing out loud for much of the show. Even our non-theater-goers in our group enjoyed it a lot. Some very talented actors and actresses locally in charleston! Reasonably priced, excellent evening entertainment!

Charleston's oldest community theatre company is Footlight Players, on Queen Street at Philadelphia Alley. 83 years with the lowest ticket prices in town, this non-equity, non-profit has launched more actors and theatre professionals than anywhere else.

Nice evening, excellent talent for a local theater and not a bad seat in the house. We bought last minute tickets to "Death Trap" and really enjoyed the evening. I will be back.

Charleston's oldest volunteer community theater that has served as the launch pad for many regional actors/actresses and theater techs...with plays running three successive weekends, multiple times a year at a very fair price, and theater school for kids or adults, a very enjoyable experience that isn't perfect but always entertains. Season tickets for locals, or individual tickets for anyone. In... More

Well done! The play was delightful and the actors were simply amazing, they kept the audience in stitches for the entire performance. Amazing cast and production crew, a delightful evening.

I enjoy the plays performed at the footlight theater because I never know what I am getting myself in for. There is no bad theater production. I love them all.

Loved the show, not the musical we have seen before but more down to earth. The production was excellent and the music so memorable, really enjoyed the evening.

Really is more than a community theater. Acting top class and ditto props, wardrobe. First class theater and wonderful feel in the actual theater.
